..but I've been at AO3 for a while (and also, if you need an invite code, ask me!). I just haven't jumped on the subscribing bandwagon because I don't think anyone actually cares if I put anything there or not. I have like... 18 stories there so far, out of... over 70? because I have a lot of trouble posting some of the newer ones with something that seems really screwed up in the formatting of my web site -- it jut takes so much time for each story, time I don't really have. But I'm slowly getting there. I also have a sad that you can't post any beautiful artwork for covers, so I'd rather have people find things at my site (is that something we'll ever be able to do? Post cover art? this is my wondering face).

So now everyone's posting vids! Gah. I can't keep up with the kids these days. I tried the posting thing today for my VVC premieres. I don't know if I'll post a lot of my vids, because most of my streaming went down with Imeem and I'm not going to do that work again just to get TOSed or watch the hoster go belly-up. But it's interesting that people can put up vid info now. Oh, for the day when we can actually stream from our own fannish vid archive and not get TOSed! It's like a dream of kittenbabies and glowing unicorns or something.

So, thanks to [personal profile] astolat's wonderful tips, here I am:

Last I heard native fanart support is still in the planning stages. Some people post picture they host externally, but I see no reason to do that if I can't upload the image. I mean if my webspace expired for whatever reason the archive would just have broken images, and that defeats the purpose of an archive.

I don't write or draw or make vids so I don't post on AO3, but I have an account where I bookmark or otherwise note where fic I want to reread is. I really appreciate AO3 as one place to look instead of a lot of blogs and websites and places I may not hear about. A fic I saw recently did have bits of art; don't know how they did it. Search for the tag Roman Britain, and look at the Highlander story. The other 3 stories using that tag are good; they are Eagle of the Ninth fics, inspired by the movie The Eagle. I got a couple of invite codes for 2 really good writers in the fandom - bunn and demon-rum, because I liked their work, wanted to see more and wanted to be able to find it.

I CARE OMG! Also, I am emailing you instructions about hosting on Critical Commons in case you want a place that's welcoming to vidders; it's a bit complicated to use but they offer dls as well as streaming and are explicitly pro-fair-use.

You can post art! We just don't have hosting, but if you already have the art on your website, just do:

<img src="URL FOR ART ON YOUR SITE" alt="what the art looks like" />

and put that in the work text. :)

Aha! Now if I can only figure out how I got it there in the first place, and where it is, I can link to it! Thank you so much, hon.

Of course we care! I love that AO3 has multiple downloading formats for readers. It saves so much time. But I am sad about the lack of art. I just keep a separate list of fic that I find I love with great art and go searching for it on LJ or DW so I can make a copy to keep with the art.

And about the vids, just wait, it'll happen and fairly soon I'm sure. Just think of the leaps in progress that have been made since fanfic began, and it the speed of that progress keeps increasing exponentially.

Yeah I was on a little bit of a roll there for a while, posting some old stuff, but then I got tired really quickly. There's just way too much to do!

Well I, for one, care deeply. I am a big fan of your Mag7 fic and I believe that the more avenues people have for getting to your marvelous stories & vids etc. the better.

Mag7 is next on my list as soon as I finish with the Professionals stuff. And then there's the X-Files and Buffy and... arrrrrg.

I am currently so in love with Community I can hardly stand it. I haven't read any fic, though... is there anything good out there? I know there's a huge contingent of Jeff/Annie shippers, and I could potentially get into that, but right now I'd really love to see some good stuff that's more team oriented.

I had wondered if it was worth looking into the posting of vids on AO3. Still not sure as I have enough trouble just keeping up wi the YouTube account. Besides, I have over 100 vids at this point.

I think I actually already have something over at AO3 but I can't remember if I started it or not.

Yeah it's hard to know where to post everything -- it just seems like at some point you reach critical mass and you have too many things to post to.

The vid went over very well, btw, at the con -- there was a collective "aaawww" when it was over, and I think it was positioned really well kind of in the middle, so that watching Sarah Jane and being sad because she's gone wasn't really possible since there were more vids to come. She was definitely on people's minds.

Thank you. And you were right. That was a better one to use than the Leela one [even though The Savage Slayer IS one of my favorites]. :)

Maybe one day I might make it there. But it's hard in August as that's garden processing time...
