Thanks for all the help with locating sources for pre-2002 vids that I asked about a while ago. I…am really up against a wall here, trying to distill 20 years of vidding into a 45 minute show, and I have no idea how I'm going to do this, but…somehow I will.

Now for my second crowdsourcing vid thing I mentioned. I'm kind of trying to accept the fact that I may not be able to do this vid for the final VVC premieres show that I have dreamed of doing, but I figure before I give up, maybe I'll see if people have some ideas. I've had this song that I've wanted to do for years, it's just this beautiful, soaring, uplifting song that every time I play it for people they love it, but I could never figure out what it needed to be. I'd play it for people, and they'd give me an idea, but it was never quite right. And when they announced the final VVC I thought, oh, that's what it is. It's us, it's this community of people who love vids and make them and watch them and get together once a year like swallows returning to Capistrano to revel in them. It's our shows and the way they make us feel and why we make vids for them.

But the problem is…I am physically not capable of collecting all the source I'd need for this, with my pain issues. I was talking with killabeez about it, and we were talking about how we'd need clips that made us feel like certain things: Kirk looking at the Enterprise again after years away or how he looks at Spock, or Martha and Rose on their adventures with the Doctor, and Luke and Han and Leia rushing to embrace each other after they blow up the Death Star, Rey after she makes it off her planet. How Jake looks at Amy, or Steve looks at Peggy, how Sam acts when he's flying… The kids from Harry Potter doing magic… The first time someone goes through the Stargate, or driving their ten-second car, or hugging someone they love. A house being carried away by balloons. Find a clip that feels like X--and I thought about getting some pics that illustrate the kind of feeling I'm looking for but I can't figure out how to put pics here that aren't ginormous (dreamwidth bewilders me).

I don't know how I could accumulate enough source to make a 3:50 vid. Maybe people who can't clip on their own would be able to point me toward something online in high enough quality, or direct me to a specific timestamp in something I could borrow, or they could tell me if it was used in a vid that I could grab from one of the VVC discs. Or maybe someone has other ideas, I'm open. Killa's sent me some clips herself from SPN, Trek, and others, and I have lots of MCU stuff, and I might be able to dig up some clips from Dr. Who, but I just feel like there's this world of stuff I've seen in vids over the years that would make this come alive. Fandoms that aren't my own, especially fandoms that have been represented at Vividcon over the years.

I should have started this a year ago. But my mind was really scattered last year, with the cancer stuff, and I didn't, and now it feels too late. I don't want to give the song away too much because I'd like to, if I can make this, not spoil the discovery too much (believe me, no one knows the song, so it's not a big deal), but some of the lyric lines are:

And it's filled with these soaring chords and "oh-ooh"s. I've never crowdsourced anything before and I don't know if I could pull this off, but I guess I'll try, at least. I don't even have another vid idea for premieres! I could kick myself for not starting this a long time ago. It's just a beautiful song and I think people could really be touched by it, but making it feels like a longshot. What do you think?

Honestly, if there are any clips from your fandoms you'd like to see included, just letting me know what/where those might be would be so helpful. My Dr. Who stuff is old, for instance, and there's just so much I don't watch or know about that I see at VVC each year, and I'd love to include a wide variety of fandoms.

I would love to help! Life stuff means that I am not working on a vid for VVC, but I could totally help with clipping. Two computers, no waiting!

I've mentioned this before, but I don't mind clipping. It is soothing and I haven't done anything wrong yet. All my tech struggles happen later on.

I'm not sure if you got my email or not-- I sent it to a gmail address but I didn't know if that was current. Also holiday weekend, etc. But this would be wonderful, especially if you were able to possibly get me a handful of clips from Buffy, Angel, and Firefly, or if you know Who much at all (I think I may have some Who clips, but they're pretty old and not in very good quality). And if there are any particular fandoms you think should be represented from the premieres show history, that'd be cool!

I loooove this idea and I really really hope you can make it!!! I am happy to help out with getting clips for you and going through vids to find good moments to use or just giving ideas or brainstorming or cheerleading. I think asking for help from the community makes the vid even more layered and deep and I'm happy to help with anything you need. Don't beat yourself up, we can make it happen!

I sent an email to you and par avion--if there are some things you can think of that should be included, that would be wonderful to have the help! I know you've vidded GoT but I'm not sure it's tonally right for the song, although you might know some clips that'd fit (I basically want this to be happy and uplifting and inspirational, I guess). Some of your other shows might work here really well too, and I don't know a few of them, but like, I'd love to include some family sitcoms like P&R in your icon, and I'm thinking of adding a couple of mine (and the Good Place and B99 might be wonderful).

This sounds like a wonderful idea. If I didn't have two vids due, like, now, and a house to sell, housing to find, life change, etc, I'd be first in line to help. But I won't have time. Even so, sending lots of support and cheerleading!

You know, honestly, if while you're GOING ABOUT YOUR ENORMOUS LIST OF RESPONSIBILITIES OMG you can think of any shots or scenes that you love that you'd like to see in the vid, i'd love to hear them. Then I can ask around for clips. Just inspirational stuff, or happy huggy type stuff.

If there are any things you can think of that you feel like would be inspirational or happy, that would still be helpful. I'd just love more ideas for clips from shows I might not watch or think about. Then I can ask minions for them. :-D I'd especially love fandoms that have had vids in Vividcon in the past, shows that I'm unfamaliar with.
