I think that's maybe my favorite of the spam headers I've gotten in the past few years. You shall have it! It's like Gandalf wrote it or something.

I did not get to see Christian Kane last night after all. My dad had a 'sode of not breathing, and I had to go down and try to talk them out of sending him to the hospital (because no, no, no I am not going there for holidays again so help me god). And of course he is almost fine today, though it's hard to talk to him because he doesn't breathe well, so the words kind of die out when he says them. Anyway. I am incredibly disappointed; a part of me hopes it was a terrible show or something so I won't have missed out. I mean, I was soaking wet and freezing cold and miserable down there, I might as well have been wet and cold and unhappy at a show where I got to gaze upon the fineness that is Chris Kane and listen to his music, you know? Frak.

I have to admit, it's nice having the iPhone -- being able to go online while I'm waiting for people is really, really nice. That first bill hurt, no doubt, but I am enjoying it enough that I guess it's worth it.

Miss Tilda and I and the cats just hunkered down in the house last night while I worked and it poured biblical rain, after I got home at like 9. Tried to catch up on some TV in the background, but there's still so much I haven't watched. Is anyone else watching AMC's Hell on Wheels? I was excited about a western, especially one set in the railroad industry, and it had Common in it as well as Colm Meaney, but... man, it's not very good. Not good at all. Everything is painted with a really broad brush, it's filled to the brim with cliches, and full of anachronisms of language and dress, and kind of annoys me. I want it to be better. I'm going to keep watching, though so far, I'm not a happy watcher or a fan. I'm curious what others think -- I haven't seen the third episode yet, and wonder if it's worth the time investment? It feels like it's desperately trying to be Deadwood but failing.

I'm sorry you missed out on the show - hopefully he'll perform again there sometime soon (or you can make it down here for one of his shows in the future).

hopefully you'll have some distracting fun for your Happy Day - I'm sorry I won't see you sooner, but as far as I can tell I should be able to make it then instead - so I'll still see you a bit later on! just let me know your plans once finalized, and we can figure out something cool to do

I'm loving the iPhone for the same reason, the ability to go on the internet whenever I want is just amazing. I can't believe I waited so long. It's just incredibly worth it to me.

I had high hopes for Hell on Wheels, too. Unfortunately it's lived up to none of them. I don't despise it but it's just disappointing. I'll continue to watch a little longer in the hopes that it comes together. I really miss Deadwood in times like these.

Honestly, it was a weird show. The opening band were good musicians but their lyrics were incredibly offensive (highlights included the song about how they were going to use their guns to get their taxes back from the government; and then the last song, called "The Devil," about girls who dress provocatively at their shows and then disappear afterward instead of going home with the band, THE NERVE OF THOSE GIRLS, IDEK, and of course they dedicated the song to "the lovely ladies of the Tractor Tavern," OMGWTF, YOU GUYS ARE SUPER CREEPY).

The second opener was Keith Urban's guitarist, who was cute and good and very funny, but just one dude with an electric guitar playing songs written for a full band, singing with a voice clearly better suited to backup singing... he was doing his best, and he was really charming, but unless you're Joe Satriani, that's tough to pull off.

And then Kane was fun, like they always are, but Chris was REALLY drunk, which made for a vaguely unsettling show--the wheels never quite came off, but it was close a couple of times (like, they had to stop a song midway through because he couldn't remember the lyrics, and he kept rambling between songs, a lot of which was very cute and sincere, but some of which was just... drunken rambling). He was VERY handsy with the band, which was adorable, and they are all cute and have a great energy together. Overall, though, it was fun, but you didn't miss anything unmissable, IMO. And Chris did say they'd had a great time and hoped that the Tractor would have them back sometime, so... hopefully they will!

I'm glad it isn't too serious with your dad, and we missed you last night! *hugs*

it poured biblical rain,

That's a good description of it... 's raining a bit less heavily right now, but I half-expect to be hearing someone outside saying "Lord, what's a cubit?"

I'm sorry about your dad and your plans getting derailed.

I watched the first episode of "Hell on Wheels" and was hoping that when the guy who got shot in the confessional said that they'd opened a door and the devil had walked through that that was what actually happened. I think he was speaking metaphorically though. Unless Colm Meaney is the devil...

There's some wonderful spam going round.
I just had one from a little old Irish lady with cancer, who had somehow amassed 4.6 million dollars, and stashed it in a bank in Malaysia, and wanted me to have it so I could spend it on widows and orphans.

Sorry you missed the gig.

Yeah, it makes having your time wasted by other people a little less sting-y.

I know, right??? It's just kind of weird how not good it is. I can't figure out why the disconnect. It's a great premise, so... what happened?

BTW, I hope you survived today OK. I feel incredibly sorry for you. Seriously.

SDW was telling me about that last night, too and man am I glad I didn't see that first act, because I think I would have blown a gasket and left. To stand around in the rain, not be able to sit inside, and then have to endure that... gah!!! I'm too old for that crap.

Mostly I missed having the chance to hook up with you guys.

Ha ha ha!! I like that! Yeah... we get these big flooded spots around my neighborhood, which is especially hard walking the dog. I don't know why they never do anything about them, but year after year when we have a bad rain, cars get stalled out or skid trying to drive through the ponds. It's disgusting, too!

You know, that might actually make the show interesting... they need to do something to make it interesting, why not that?

And she left it all to you without even knowing you! How wonderful of her. I get so much spam every day, it's kind of ridiculous, and I know that I should be doing things to fix it but I can never seem to get around to trying to learn how. One of these days...

Because she TRUSTED ME TO SPEND IT ON CHARITY!!!

That's just such a brilliant wheeze if it had been done better. Letting the mark think they're going to con a little old lady.

I love that icon!
