Flotsam, jetsam

Last night, Olive stayed out all night (when the weather finally turns nice, she will do this, like, she can't believe it's nice out finally or something). I get so worried. I didn't get to bed till after 2, and I always have trouble sleeping when she won't come in, so I get up constantly to call her. The last time I did, I heard birds tweeting and the sky was that incredible shade of deep blue where you know there's a bit of light, but it's still twilight out. I couldn't figure it out -- I hadn't been in bed that long. Then I realized, oh yeah, it's summer solstice, shortest day of the year. Amazing!

So, I haven't paid much attention at all to the fic that poured forth from the Avengers mania, but reading belmanoir's Thor/Loki roadtrip series is making me want to read more. I think, honestly, there's not a pairing I wouldn't like, but I'm especially interested in Coulson/anybody (I can't even tell you how much I adore Coulson. He is my new fictional spiritual fiance -- I would never leave him like that ungrateful cellist!), Clint and Natasha together, and Clint with whomever or Natasha with whomever, as long as she's not portrayed as weaker. I could also do Loki if someone's good at explaining him. But honestly, I like them all (science bros!). I'm afraid, though, to walk unprotected into these waters. I would love some recs. Stuff I like -- angst (real angst, not OMG I Have a Hangnail "angst"), hurt/comfort, road trips, plotty save the world stuff, and most of all, cracking dialog. I do not like kink stuff, bdsm, anything with babies, or heavy AUs (I like "what-if" AUs, where one small change alters the course of everything, but there better be some consequences). Actually, now that I mention it, I love stories with stakes -- no, not the Buffy kind, the kind where things are at stake, where there are consequences to things. I enjoyed the Thor, Cap, and first Iron Man movies, though I didn't think they were the genius works everyone else thought they were, so characters from those are fine (Peggy! Bucky!). Also, spelling and grammar really count with me. What would you rec for someone with my requirements? Anything?

I need to get started on my 100 things challenge. I will!

Do you have a recs tag, and a fic tag for those? I'd love to read them (I am intrigued by the Coulson/Barton love -- I don't know how much I saw it in the movie, yet it... interests me. Probably because I love both of them so much individually.) and anything you think is worthwhile.

And my Venn diagram of Avengers fic interests doesn't have a ton of overlap with yours (pretty much: Natasha, Clint, Natasha/Clint, cracking dialogue), and I haven't so much dived into that fandom as I'm kind of standing in the stream enjoying watching everything swirl around me, AND I have not been at all diligent about bookmarking things, BUT a couple of fics I liked (both mostly gen, both team-y bonding fics with fun dialogue): well, let the drum beat drop (http://archiveofourown.org/works/404165) and Film Studies, Or, Four Films About Captain America and One By Him (http://archiveofourown.org/works/431347). And this (http://archiveofourown.org/works/416433) is a nice Natasha POV that belmanoir recced me the other day. I posted a few Coulson/Barton links awhile back -- they're here: http://feochadn.livejournal.com/116523.html. I have a ton more since then (I can give you files?). My OTPs in Avengers are Phil & Clint and Tony & Steve, and I have a TON of Tony/Steve recs, links and files if you are interested. I will say that a bunch of them pre-date the movies by quite a bit and are mostly 616 (Marvel comics main universe) with a few Ultimates, Noir and a couple Marvel Adventures thrown in. If you want the long, plotty (GOOD) angst, of the Tony/Steve variety, it's in the 616 stories.

Oh, I also have vague memories of you looking for a cam? Did you find it? I pretty much lost that weekend to a migraine...sorry.

Thank you so much! I am ALL FOR Clint/Natasha sexing. I take it they aren't canonical honeys in the comics? It makes me happy in the movie, that's for sure. If you think of any more, let me know! I was hoping I'd hear from more folks, but at least this gets me started on something. I am the world's most cowardly reader.

I'll take any links you can give me, and stories, too -- if you think I'll be OK without having the comics canon? I mean, I can probably just imagine in my head the characters as played by these actors... but like, I haven't read the Winter Soldier stuff or things like that.

I'm really serious when I say I like them all. That's pretty rare for me.

When you unmelt, let me know some of the stuff you like. I think science bros are definitely cute together (I'm not sure about the Hulk sexing stuff though... I'm not really interested in the Other Guy as much, and I have a hard time picturing that all... so I'm much more pedestrian in my focus on Bruce).

I know, I'm still trying to reorient my thinking so that everytime people talk about Avengers, I don't expect a bowler hat and catsuit. Of course, now it'll be having to explain everytime you talk about the classic, you'll have to explain "the '60s British TV show." Sigh.
