Thanks to a friend who's given me access, I was able to catch the first few episodes of WandaVision this weekend. It's...I don't know. Okay? I'm somewhat irritated with the pacing and I really hope that there will be Thoughts on the show )

But I think the real thing I'm wondering is--and I have to rewatch that second episode to see if I'm wildly off base or not--whether most curious )

Since I'm talking about Wanda, I thought I'd make today's rec about her.

Pour Back the Ocean by [archiveofourown.org profile] imperfectcircle (The Avengers, 10,907 words, T)
Summary: After the events of Age of Ultron, Wanda has to find a new place in the world. Contains team training exercises, expected grief and unexpected kindness.

This came out after Age of Ultron, and gives Wanda a believable journey toward integrating with the team and finding some peace after the loss of her brother. I really appreciated its accurate portrayal of what losing a twin feels like.

Today's rec is for some really incredible fanart:

No I in Team by [personal profile] goss (Daredevil, Iron Man, G)

I love the fluidity of the superhero personas with their sense of motion and force, and the Tony and Matt figures are so sharply drawn and monochromatic, almost conservative, with just that burst of color in Matt's glasses. There's such an interesting sense of narrative tension in here, enough to make me want to read fic in something I don't usually read in.

It's a few hours till I head out to venture across the water to see Infinity War. I'm…carefully biding my time--I've always asked for spoilers, I love spoilers and don't understand why everyone freaks about them, but I don't see most movies till later on, and since I am resigned to Steve's death, I've just been kind of on a low-key avoidance regimen. I've even managed to avoid most of the commercials, only downloading a few that I knew would help with the Club Vivid Barbershop Quartet vid that [personal profile] killabeez and I are making for Vividcon.

I sort of learned the hard way with Civil War (I still have trouble referring to it as Captain America: Civil War because it was not a Cap movie in the least and was in fact a bullshit Avengers movie/Iron Man 4 plus Spider-Man promo and I will be forever angry about that) that I should not download every single ad spot and trailer, but I think also they have made far fewer of those, maybe realizing how much they gave away of that movie by having, I'm not exaggerating, more than 40 different spots, most of which contained one tiny new scene. I was grabbing them all because I was making Dangerous and Hallo Spaceboy at the time, and I knew by the time they showed in August it would seem weird that nothing from CW was in them outside of the two first trailers. Lesson learned, though--I was so utterly done with the movie by the time I saw it (even though it was the opening premiere!) that the enormous flaws of it were even worse to me by then.

It's been relatively easy these past few days to stay away from media, since I'm writing and vidding, and reading some long fics. Still, I did watch Chris Evans in his appearances on Seth Meyers and GMA, and my god, he seemed so relaxed and confident and funny in a way he often isn't on these poledances. The stuff with him and his little brother Scott doing a kind of Newlywed Game Q&A was adorable and hilarious, and finding out Chris sang Scott to sleep with Neil Diamond does things to me. I've been kinda down on him lately after some of the stuff I've heard, but he's back in my good graces provisionally for that. Those two should always be on talk shows together, they're amazing.

I thought we were going to the Cinerama but it turns out we'll be over in Bellevue at the non-recliney seat theatre, though this will be my first experience with the newer IMAX 2D. I've been to IMAX movies before but those were old tech and only one was an actual fictional theatrical movie (Apollo 13) rather than a documentary at the Air and Space Museum or something. I avoid it because it's always been 3D, but I guess IMAX has realized hardly anyone actually likes 3D (seriously, till they fix the glasses over glasses problem, they'll always lose a significant portion of an audience, not to mention people prone to headaches or visual problems, and also, people who can't freaking afford it) so they're doing more 2D showings these days. Well, a few more hours to go. I'm the emobidment of the grimacing gritted teeth emoji.

Because I didn't have enough on my plate with trying to finish this @#%$&$% story that is now at 16,000 words when it was supposed to just be stupid fluffy nonsense (writing is finished, but it needs a lot of editing), and work, and animals, and health things, and getting ready for Vividcon, now I have started a Natasha vid that I would like to finish and post before I leave for Chicago.

What is wrong with me? And it's not even the kind of song that people usually want for vids about her; it's quiet and melancholy. I'm an idiot. Kill me now and put me out of my misery.
