Well, that was fantastic. I'm happy flailing all over the place. All I can do is pray that Marvel will give us more. Eight episodes won't be enough, I'm sure.

And I'm totally surprised by this, but I kinda fell in love with Jarvis. He makes a great sidekick for Peggy, and every badass lady should have a polite, well-behaved, surprisingly competent sidekick, if you ask me.

And I loved all the callbacks to the movie, and to Steve. Oh Pegs, oh Steve.

I loved it, too!

(The only thing I need now is a tale of how a young Alfred Pennyworth, newly parted from the military and making a huge career change, was mentored by Jarvis. And also got in a little shameless flirting with Agent Carter.)

*FLAILS RIGHT BACK* I couldn't believe how good that was! Like, can we have that writing team take on all the Marvel ladies?

(And then to have the UGH of the Antman preview. Whose brilliant idea was that completely boring trailer?)

I'm glad it's a short, focused run, though I am hoping there will be future seasons. I'd much rather have a series where they know exactly what they are doing than another one where they start flailing around and adding filler. Especially in prequels, where you have to think about how it will fit in with teh future.

I thought it was fascinating how she fit so many of the traditionally male hero tropes, but it didn't feel at all like a role written for a man. I enjoyed the hell out it, frankly.

I really liked it. I've only ever seen Atwell in Brideshead Revisited and of course Captain America, but I think she took the character far beyond its original incarnation. Tom and Lorenzo said this about her and I totally agree:

It is a universal truth that a fantastic or superheroic story requires leads that can sell the hell out of the material. In Hayley Atwell, Agent Carter has found its Harrison Ford/Christopher Reeve/Sean Connery/William Shatner; a charismatic force of nature that sucks all the light in the room toward it, forcing every other actor to react to her in every scene. It’s a total star turn and she made practically every line sing.

This thing had better not disappoint me down the road.
