I may (or may not) write up some stuff about the weekend at Escapade, but since this was the con where the universe had programmed a Beat Down Gwyn weekend without informing me beforehand, I don't know how much I want to write! Suffice to say it ended with with a waitress loudly sneering at me that my card had been "cancelled" (not) and dropping it on the table as if it had ebola virus on it, and then a heinously late flight that made me miss my scheduled appearance at an editing class, and the piece de resistance, walking into the house to be met with the most hideous stench because the refrigerator died.

I knew the fridge was on its last legs because it started making scary noises right before I left for the airport, but there was nothing to be done about it except warn the cat care lady and hope for the best. Apparently the stench was even worse the other day when she came in, and she aired things out as best she could. But I had to spend the entire night last night clearing everything out of the damn thing, which, I swear, wasn't just dead, it was warm. I saved a couple things, but I have to keep an eye on them; my garbage can is full, the recycling is nearly full, and the yard/food waste compost bin is bursting. And it still stinks, IMO.

But I did find a repairman who came mid-day and fixed the compressor unit. Same problem I had a number of years ago with my old Kenmore fridge. He told me that it's not a good compressor to begin with and that one of the things they never tell you is that fridges in built-in/around cabinets can't really vent, so the compressor gets hot, and very few manufacturers use good compressors. This gibes with what my old boyfriend, an appliance repairman, told me. This guy said Sub-Zero is the only one who makes top-mount compressors, and their bottom line unit is $5,000. Yeah. So that won't be happening any time soon, but he did say the repair won't last a long time. I hate this disposable, cheap junk society we live in.

I so hated throwing out all the Asian and other spicy condiments and ingredients I have. Partly because it was expensive, and partly because it smells so awful now. You'd think that a lot of pastes and sauces and such would make the kitchen smell good all thrown together in the sink, but you'd be wrong -- between the humidity in the fridge and freezer and the ingredients, it does not smell pretty.

AAAAAaaaanyway. I finally made a web copy of the vid I premiered at Escapade this weekend. It's mostly just a little old-skool type fun vid for an old-skool fandom, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. It's up at my vids site and at Viddler, which I've embedded under the cut. It looks a lot nicer in the divx file at my site, though.

Follow You Down
Fandom: Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid
Artist: Gin Blossoms
File: 30MB Divx avi
Streaming: http://www.viddler.com/explore/gwyn/videos/6/
Sundance won't follow Butch that far. Well, okay, maybe he will.

Enjoy! Feedback of any kind is always welcome.

Yikes! Back in 2007, we arrived at my mother-in-law's in Yakima a couple of days after the hottest day of the year (106). Two of her freezers in the garage had failed. They were full of meat and frozen pizzas and preserves from 1990 and I don't know what else, because it was all an odoriferous, slimy mess. I used bleach to swab them out, and ruined a couple of shirts. The smell lingered for days. So here's hoping that you can get rid of the smell quickly!

And Follow Me Down is the earworm in my head since Sunday, trading places with Fireflies once in a while.

I like the style of this vid and it's a wonderful reminder to re-watch BCatSK real soon. :)

oh, that doesn't sound fun - I'm so sorry!

loved the vid - it's been ages since I've seen the movie, and I'd forgotten how much I enjoyed it. that was long before I tumbled into fandom and became really aware of subtext, but there was *something* there that really grabbed me

Awwwww, ♥! It's so great to see a Butch & Sundance vid! I really enjoyed this, and I love that you referenced the movie's famous ending without letting that be the ending of your vid. Um, if that makes sense at all. I like happy endings, and I adore how this ends, in toasts and laughter. Siiigh. As far as I'm concerned, this can be the new ending for the movie, and to hell with historical truth. :-)

I don't think the download-link on your site is working. I've tried all the other ones and they are okay, so I don't think it's me (or my computer). Would love to see the vid all it's shiny full-screen glory.....

I have no idea what's going on -- it's coded exactly the same as the other files, but I can't get it to DL right either. I've looked at the page source and everything seems fine, but the hosting site has been acting really wonky for me and they're using a new interface to edit pages inside the domain. I'm not sure what to suggest... or what else to do, since I'm not especially knowledgeable about this sort of thing. I'm sorry!

Loved this vid. Slashy goodness with loads of pretty Newman and Redford. The download link worked just fine for me.

{hugs} for the bad, I hope it's better now? And YAY for the vid! You rock like a rocking thing. BnS are an OTP for me, I love them. (I long have lusted after my own home theatre in the house with a wall-length painting of that last frozen scene in the film.)

As someone else mentioned, I'm SO glad you referenced the final scene but cut away before it froze. I'm incredibly grateful to you for that. And I full on love you love you for the final scene of your vid going to sepia like the film. {squeeze}
