My Festivid, for the series Kings, made for the lovely [personal profile] destina. It was really a Kings holiday season for me--both my Yuletide stories were for the show, and one of them I wrote for Destina as well, and she wrote me one of the most beautiful stories I've ever received in Yuletide, also for Kings. All this love for the show and yet I don't have an icon specific to Jack Benjamin on the series. But I mean, Sebastian Stan's faaaaaace. I love his face. So vidding it was not hard at all.

Lyrics (as far as I could guess them) are on the AO3 page. High-quality DL available at my vids site. Feedback adored!

I don't know the source at all (past the original story), but this was gorgeously put together.

Ditto sadly -- but now I want to see it! I loved the song, too. This was beautiful.

I....might have just gotten the series used on DVD ($15! Sebstan being pretty and crying! Ian McShane, Susanna Thompson, Sarita Choudhury, holy shit!). I dunno how I missed it originally, it sounds kind of like modern-dress Shakespeare stuff like Private Idaho and Scotland PA and other mashups, which I like a lot.

This is really lovely! I only just watched Kings for the first time recently and I've been thinking about it ever since, so I was happy to see something for it while clicking through the Festivids list. It's the kind of song that I wouldn't think of as particularly viddable on first listen, but the light, aetherial sing-song style combined with the darkness of the lyrics is a perfect fit for what you're showing with it: the bleak and unrelenting unreality of Jack's life underneath the money and the cult of celebrity.

...Wow. Fantastic song choice and editing, first off, and I know some of the visual awesome is the source (and Sebastian Stan's faaaaaaaaace, dear lord), but wow, the things you do with the raw footage. And then you can write too. It'd be enough to make me green with envy except that I get to benefit from your talents. Which is just as well, because I'm too lazy to sustain a good envy. ;-)

But seriously, this is gorgeous, and yes, I think I definitely need to check this series out now, just so I can better appreciate this vid.

Hi there :) I was poking around my stash of Kings fanvids because of reasons and then I realized that this one was made by you, of all people - I'm your last year's yuletide writer. Just wanted to say that this is a stunning work, such a haunting clarity. I feel lucky it's out there because it never fails to give me an emotional hook to start writing :)

And thank you again for having been my favorite yuletide recipient in the history of ever. You had an inspiring letter, and I had a feeling that we had very similar feels for the fandom (for both fandoms!), and it made the fic write itself. If you ever need more French translations, you can always ask me - I'm Swiss-French, among other things :)

EEEEeeee! Flaily hands!! I am so thrilled that you like the vid, because it's like having coincidentally paid you back for my FREAKING AWESOME STORY! I actually just reread it recently because I was in need of something that I knew would guarantee a smile.

Oh wow, I had no idea of your nationality--that's fantastic. And honestly, so few people have read the story I wanted a translation for that I would have no qualms about changing it. I just had him speaking English instead, but I had originally hoped to have him say "poor bastards" and "please let me wake up now" and my friend suggested it'd be more likely that they'd say "something like poor cunts" but I just don't know enough French to even know.

And if you know of any wonderfully insulting things to say to disparage something, that would be fantastic for the thing I'm writing now--basically, Dernier is dragged into the Americans' baseball game, and he thinks the whole thing is ridiculous, but I don't know any great insults to slag someone off with!

:))) I LOVE ITTT. I usually have far too many feelings about SebStan's face anyway and here the experience is, like, dialed to eleven. I love how the succession of scenes and introduced characters pulls you in and you feel that you can follow Jack's story - I don't have good words to feedback vids, so let me show you with my flailing hands: *draws a heart!*

I would say "ces pauvres cons" for "these poor bastards/cunts" and "non, mais je rêve" for "please let me wake up now". And you could send me the Dernier part of your new fic when you're ready - because it's easier to swear in context :) I'm at la.bond.girl @ gmail

If you ever need any Russian words, I can also help because I'm that as well.

Also, considering that we both have those feelings about SebStan's face, would you like to be friends here and on tumblr? I'm not always around but I make sure I keep in touch :)
