Date: 2015-06-19 11:33 pm (UTC)I've been thinking about this story since probably the third time I saw the movie, because I've always thought that since Pierce knew Steve's place was bugged, Hydra would have to tap into that--there's no other real explanation for how they found Fury there and Bucky was set up enough in advance to make that kind of shot. But if they knew Steve was out, and they knew someone was in the place…they'd probably have him patched in. Operationally, it just made sense, and I wondered what the music would do to him. Because yeah, music is incredibly powerful at triggering memories. I first did some research into that after I had a complete breakdown in a store about six months after my sister died, just kind of curious why a song that we'd never shared had caused that. It's really cool how they're using it with stroke patients and things.
I'll Be Seeing You is totally the Stucky song 4ever. Absolutely. Also, I'm really glad you liked the facts--that was my favorite thing of all, and the thing that helped me find a way into the story when I'd struggled with how I was going to move it past that first scene.

Yeah, I remember listening to an album (Blue Bell Knoll) I hadn't heard since probably sophomore year of college, and WHAM this whole flood of memories and associations came flooding back, in incredible detail. I had to turn it off!

YES, especially maybe the Billie Holiday version, possibly.
Also, I'm really glad you liked the facts--that was my favorite thing of all, and the thing that helped me find a way into the story when I'd struggled with how I was going to move it past that first scene.
I could totally see poor Bucky trying to cling to that as a grounding thing. And there's so many things he's been told as facts, facts he doesn't remember, and so on....it really fits.
