So AO3 has been utterly fucked all week, and it made posting a 35,000-word fic hair-tearingly difficult. But one of the side-effects was that the RSS feeds (to Tumblr and I suppose other places) for my characters and pairings weren't updating much at all, just a few posts trickling through, and then they shut off the feeds altogether for a while. Since I don't have many followers/subscribers and rarely get reblogs/recs, what little way I've found for new fics to get out to a slightly wider audience have come through those Tumblr RSS feeds. And I can't imagine they scrape and post the backlog of things that didn't get posted that far back. It's like "ha ha, no soup for you!"
Ever since Vividcon I've kind of felt like Nelson from the Simpsons is standing behind me pointing and going HA ha! every time I've made something. I went to bed with such a frustration headache last night.
And I didn't get signed up for Festivids. I can't seem to get to the sign-up form no matter what I do. I keep signing in and I can see my dash, but I can't get a form. I find the site really hard to parse, so I thought it was just that I can't see an important hidden button or link, but I missed the deadline for signing up anyway, so. No challenges this year after all. I'll see if I can squeeze in a treat for someone. It feels strange not to have something to look forward to, once I'm finished with the book I'm working on--no Yuletide, no Festivids.

Date: 2015-10-31 02:05 am (UTC)I think this is kind of a lousy week to post fic, technology-wise; there was AO3 not working and now Tumblr has gone and removed replies AND tracked tags, meaning that even though the feeds are up no one can find them on the tracked tags because no one can get there. I found the feed and went back and checked the Stucky AO3 feed for you and I didn't see yours, sorry. :(
You could change the Work Posted date and bump it back to the top?

Date: 2015-10-31 04:47 am (UTC)I wish to hell that we, fandom, could move somewhere better, that would accommodate the passive nature and graphics capabilities that so many people like about Tumblr, and the text and interactive capabilities that people like here. Because jesus, fandom needs to get away from that ridiculous, fucked up site. I admit I have a love/hate with AO3, but even at my rantiest about it, and I can rant, it's 500,000 percent better managed than Tumblr, and we know why. I think the fact that Tumblr doesn't even seem to understand that its largest percentage of users are fans is typical of the problem.

Date: 2015-10-31 07:33 am (UTC)If you still want to sign up for Festivids, could you maybe tell the mods you had trouble with the form and see if they'll let you sign up late? It's a small enough exchange that you might be able to do it!

Date: 2015-10-31 08:18 pm (UTC)The mods were going to look into whether they could open it back up for me to sign up but since I couldn't seem to get the signup form to show, it just wasn't worth the effort. In looking at the signups now, honestly, there are so few vidders I know and so few fandoms I'm interested in that it's possibly for the best. And I can also focus on work.
