I was able to post a 5,000 word Yuletide treat for someone today, so that makes five fanworks in as many weeks. Which is a record for me, I usually spend way too much time on things to churn out that much stuff that quickly, fic or vid. And it brings my word count for 2015 almost 40,000 words over last year, and last year boggled my mind with how much I'd written.

I asked belmanoir the other night when it became laughable how many fanworks in a specific fandom you had listed on your AO3 dashboard. Because when I was posting, all I could do was laugh at the 33 listed for Captain America--I mean, my most-fanworked fandom was like 18 before. Admittedly I don't have the numerous Buffy vids posted to AO3 and at least four of the Cap ones are vids, plus the MCU ones contain a bunch of other vids, but still...I just thought that was hilarious and maybe embarrassing? I don't know when it becomes comical to others. But it's comical to me.

I'm glad I was able to write a story for Yuletide, since I hadn't signed up. It felt so odd not doing it, and this way even though I won't get the glee of finding a story for me on Christmas, I get the glee of (I hope) getting a comment from a happy reader.

Well, it's at 1500 words now, so we'll see if I can actually get it into a story while the main collection's open. I figured out on the way to the grocery store what the story was about at least?

Wow, go you! As someone who wrote many more words this year than I imagined possible... it's a nice feeling, isn't it? :)

And hooray for writing Yuletide treats! I didn't manage any treats (I did do a main fic though) but I am doing Fandom Stocking treats, the Cap-IM Exchange, and I just posted a Pros fic for my girlfriend's birthday, so I guess it's not like I'm not giving fic to people.

(Marvel still hasn't overtaken Eagle on my AO3 dashboard, but soon... soon! The things we all do for Captain America, huh?)

It's kind of weird, thinking about doing THAT much writing. Like, last year it didn't start till after the movie, which was mid-April, but then this year it's been all year plus finishing up a bunch of things I put on hold once I'd seen CA:TWS. I keep forgetting about fandom stocking, and I should really look into that, since it's not restricted to small fandoms it might be more inspiring.

Oh man, that's me. I grip onto something and am THERE FOR LIFE, even if I get disappointed later, with with X-Files or Buffy. Now fandom is all "Ooh! Star Wars!" and I'm just like "....but we didn't finish analyzing every last second of the Civil War trailer!"

It's the one where he is LOOKING AT BUCKY after Bucky says your mom newspaper shoes etc. etc. In the trailer, anyway, Marvel trailers are sliced and diced like mirepoix.

I only find it comical when people are in 100+ for the same fandom. That is dedication. I usually manage around 10 and then move on, so you are in-between comical and butterfly, in my book. *g*

I have this terrible feeling I might be one of those people in the hundreds. I just haven't had ANYthing catch my interest the way this fandom has, and I just keep coming up with ideas even when I wish I could be done with it. I've never been a butterfly, though. I don't get that--I feel so passionately for the things I like that it's hard for me to imagine discarding them quickly, which is what most of my acquaintances do and I'm always boggled (plus, it's lonely--everyone flits over to something new and then I'm sitting there going, but wait, let me tell you why I love…). Plus they keep turning out movies, so that doesn't help. And knowing that Sebastian has about six more pictures on his contract, well…I have a feeling I might be a lifer here.
