Sorry it's a WIP, but I kind of figured what difference does it make, and this way I could use the fear of guilt and shame to make sure I finished something.

Man, if there's one (of many) things that irritate the fuck out of me about AO3, it's that first chapters won't post with their title. I do not even understand why that's a thing and why it would be constructed that way.

Yes, I'm writing Sam and Bucky on the road. \o/ I kept wondering if it's a road trip if they don't actually drive. Not that there won't be some driving, but it's mostly flying and other modes of transportation than a couple of guys driving around.

YES! That is super annoying. A while ago I've posted all my drawbles of a single fandom as chapters of a story each (all pretty much open ended "in progress" as a far as chapters go), and the chapter titles are the prompts people gave me, and it's fine as soon as there is more than one chapter, but the fandoms with just one drawble, the prompt won't show!

I think the designers for some inexplicable reason simply couldn't conceive of instances with a single chapter where the chapter title wouldn't be a repeat of the story title.

BTW, I like following WIPs, and frequently find it easier to comment on them than on finished works depending on how it is structured (because there are obvious "hooks" for what you can say, beyond just "I liked it" which is covered by kudos already, like wondering what happens next, or such), so I look forward to reading yours.

You know, I think I wrote to them YEARS ago about this, when I was first posting my old stuff to my new AO3 account. AND THEY STILL HAVEN'T FUCKING FIXED IT. I just--why on earth would you build something that can have multiple chapters and do this? Why? It's so frustrating if you're writing something as you go along, rather than being able to post a second chapter right away.

I can see that many people who just post a single "chapter" as their story don't any chapter title or "chapter 1" or such to show in their work, but seriously, it should be a simple matter solved via ticky box or even just filling in a chapter title or not. If you leave the field blank, no chapter title shows, if you have put in one, it shows even with just one chapter. I can't imagine that to be a difficult technical fix. And unlike the long-promised but never coming art hosting it won't take any resources either. I mean, if my webhost goes down, all my "archived" fanworks are broken image links which seriously sucks, and you know, if I get killed by a falling toilet seat or whatever, using AO3 won't have done any good to preserving my fanworks.

Does this contain Civil War spoilers? :D I hope you don't mind me asking, because I'm not reading much MCU fic anymore and I started actively avoiding it once Spoilergeddon hit ... but this looks like something I would really like if I can read it without being spoiled.

No, it shouldn't, it's a timeline a bit after the movie but not including Age of Ultron other than that Sam is technically an Avenger. I am trying to be pretty rigorous about tagging anything as including Civil War trailer stuff in any fanwork I post for the time being, because I don't understand the whole spoiler thing and so I'm trying to be super cautious for other people.

(And I have to say--I have had this thing kicking around in one form or another in my mind for a really long time, but after I read Wing and a Prayer, which I adored, I put it way, way in the back because I figured there'd be no way to do this without it seeming like I was ripping you off. I spent a lot of time trying to rejigger some of the events, I even toyed with having someone else go with Bucky, but in the end Sam and his wings played too much of a part in it. I think, and I hope, it won't veer too much into that territory, but they definitely get into some "how do we get ourselves out of this mess" misadventures thanks to Hydra, and I'm calling on my youth growing up in a mountaineering family for a lot of the events. Not wilderness survival, but they are in hot water. And Sam and Bucky brotp. :-D I kicked it back up the chain because I'm having so much trouble with everything else and this was the one thing that I felt could be posted as a WIP and push me to keep going instead of abandon it, and that I felt less than hopeless about.)
