So, Oscar party was fun, with a few more people this year than last, and we seemed to have a good time (I hope; possibly everyone's too polite to tell me otherwise). But I missed the red carpet -- I mean, I get why they didn't do it, but the parade of gowns and suits was always my favorite part. Now I'll have to wait until later to find out who the designers were on the dresses and see if I'm right about some of them. Sushi, brie and grapes the size of your head, chips and peach salsa/sour cream, and we all seemed to be happy.

Best joke of the night: Steve Martin's crack about Teamsters helping Michael Moore into the trunk of the car. Second best was his joke about Halle Berry paving the way for hot women.

Best moment: Adrien Brody (who I was thrilled to see win the actor award) macking on Halle Berry. Good actress she that she kissed him back on autopilot.

Definitely it clocked in faster, but then they hit the parade of Oscar winners, and I was falling off my chair in a coma. I love Harrison Ford, but I yelled "Get the paddles" when he was onstage. Calista appears to have sucked the life dry out of him. Peter O'Toole was elegant and cool and reminded me of why I've been in love with him since I was 11. I was living in terror of him tonight, because the last time he was on the show, he was stoned and nonsensical and embarassing, but tonight he was lovely and eloquent and warm. Go Peter. And Chris Cooper, he's the man. God, I love him. Can't wait to see Seabiscuit, but I'm glad his white hair is growing out.

Overall, not many things I was rooting for tonight, and it was a very bland show to me, so I don't know how much it will affect people coming to my house next year, but the company part was enjoyable -- and it's all about the mockage and the laughter, if you ask me.
