Well, one tiny piece of good news. [livejournal.com profile] klia sent me this link regarding Keen Eddie, the summer show on Fox that I fell in love with. It was about as stupid, silly, funny, slashy, and bizarre as one could ever hope, frequently crass and moronic, often peculiarly endearing, and I was very sad that Fox, as usual, chose not to show the remaining six episodes when they unceremoniously cancelled it. So the news that there might be DVDs in the offing, but that at least we can see the remaining episodes on Bravo, is the only good news so far this week. Even if Bravo chops them to pieces, it's still something.

And USA will be repurposing Karen Sisco, as they did with Robbery Homicide Division last year. As much as I'm not fond of USA for their treatment of Nikita, I was grateful to them for showing RHD and letting us get a chance to catch all the eps on tape, and for showing the unaired eps after it was cancelled by CBS. I think this repurposing thing is good; it hasn't saved Boomtown, which apparently has been yanked from the schedule already, but then, I'm not sure Boomtown can be saved at this point. So far I like Sisco, although I'm not completely sold yet -- will have to watch at least a few more episodes.

I'm glad that these other networks, and production companies, are seeing the value in releasing some of these cancelled shows on DVD. For us Firefly fans, that was the best news ever; for us Keen Eddie fans, it's a little bit of hope after being lured by Fox yet again and kneecapped just when we'd got hopelessly hooked. I keep gazing at MGM, praying they might see fit to release Magnificent 7, since we're only talking about 23 hours, but I can't hold my breath on that one.

It comes as great timing, too, because I just completed my Keen Eddie vid, one of the hardest vids I've ever made, and I'm feeling the love for the show big time. The series is just so freaking odd that it's hard to make sure you've accurately conveyed what's funny about it, even with a funny song. It was certainly one of the outright slashiest shows I've ever seen; at one point, one of the partners actually asks the other if they had sex in the car and he'd just forgotten it. Yeah, it was derivative of the Guy Ritchie filmmaking style, but I didn't care. I just loved it, and will definitely love seeing if they make it part of a gay little evening by pairing it with Queer Eye. Now I just have to hold [livejournal.com profile] feochadn down and get her to start working on our Robbery Homicide vid...

And to my California friends... what can I say but that I'm sorry? You have my deepest sympathies.

Even getting Eddie Keen is no consolation for the subversion of democracy that we have just witnessed in California. Where are people's brains? It's not that Arnold is so bad (although I think he is ) but the whole damn thing has been manipulated by the rich, richer and richest far right wing conservatives. How did they manage to convince Californians that Gray Davis is responsible for what happened in the 8 years before his election? The state was run by a republican - doesn't that compute? Huh? HUH?????
OK - no fair to use your journal to rant but I am just sick. I want San Francisco to abdicate from the state of California and set itself up as a separate state. Girrr...AARG....words...I have no words.
