It's alive!

feochadn and I finished our Robbery Homicide Division vid last night -- whoo hoo! That means now all my entries for Vividcon are done (well, except for my Wes/Lilah vid, which is finished but I discovered severe technical problems with some of the effects once I played it on my hi-def TV, and now I have to try to fix and waste gajillions of DVDs in the process of seeing if it gets fixed) and my vid a month streak continues. Collaborating is always a more time-consuming vid process, because you have to get your schedules together, etc., but I almost always like the results. I like vidding alone, but I also like working with other people a lot. And this one was such a challenge -- fast-paced rap and strange Porno for Pyros music in the same song, words that make no sense, and violence... lots and lots of violence, in the music, in the visuals, in the concept. You have to walk a careful line in something like that.

But at least now I feel mostly prepared. feochadn likes to work up against deadlines at the 11th hour because it inspires her; I'm a "get it done as far in advance as possible" person. I dread surprises. So this is a good compromise. I know that it's hard to hit the bar we hit last year with the Miracles vid (which I never expected, and still kind of stuns me), so that's a little tough. It's hard to work against past successes, I sometimes think, but it also inspires us to work harder to make the kind of vid we want to see -- which, you always hope, will also hit your audience the same way it hits you.

And now, maybe, I can turn my attention to some other things that have been on back burners, and get cracking on the Buffy S6 DVD review, the Wes piece, and more of this stupid WIP.

ETA: I meant to also pimp PRZed's high-larious new Man From UNCLE vid, Moscow Drug Club, available at her vid site here for download. Apparently it was quite the (well-deserved) hit at Media West. And thank god for that, since MW usually only seems to pay attention to the most craptastic vids. Yay for breaking the cycle!

Dudes, I *wish* I looked this good. And they didn't have iced tea, otherwise that would be the item perpetually in my hand.

A while ago I spotted a meme and started doing it, then lost it, and now I can't find it again -- anyone know where I can pick up the seven deadly sins meme? I was also amused by it, trying to figure out how much of a sinner I am.
