So, I decided to whack off about four inches or so of my hair and try a new 'do. I've never been one to waffle about decisions like buying things or cutting hair; once I've made up my mind, that's it. I saw a picture of Cate Blanchett where I liked her hairstyle, but the person cutting my hair last month decided that my having made up my mind on the spot that that's what I wanted was bad, and talked me out of it. I guess it's only in my creative endeavors that I waffle; I'd edit a story to death if I didn't post it, because I'm never happy and always think I'm making the wrong choices. Same with vids -- I usually end up hating them because I later second guess all my clip choices.

For those of you who know me, this won't seem too radical, but it's shorter, especially in back, and I can carefully dishevel it easier than with my other style. That's what I'm doing when the self timer caught me -- trying to see if I can carefully dishevel it again (alas, no go). I'm hair impaired. The stylists never believe I want to grow out my bangs (fringe, for you UK folks). So this growing out project is going to be somewhat difficult and time consuming. And for those of you who don't know me, now you can point and laugh at what I actually look like. Plus, there's a new picture of the puss, because I had to. This digital thing is weird though -- colors sure don't render anything like real life (that throw she's hiding under is purple). I suppose it takes all the mystique out of one's online persona to actually let people see what you look like, doesn't it? Hmm, might be worth rethinking. ;-)

I think it's very cruel of nature to make one both ugly and unphotogenic. It seems like you could be one or the other, but not both -- I've certainly seen unattractive folks whom the camera did not hate. Nature is sadistic, if you ask me. Hmpf.

And now I'm going to a get together where I bet not one single person will notice!

oh...i love pictures...but it's nice to get a sense of a person before seeing their physical selves...but then it's neat to know what everyone looks like!

haircut looks good, though i have no comparison, so i can't say how different it looks. as for hair dressers and dishevelling...i actually often let them make *me* do it or demand they don't do anything i wouldn't/couldn't do at home...my mom dragged me to hers a couple of years back and i looked good once in 3 months...the day i got out of there...i hated that haircut with a passion :-)

have fun at the get together!

Don't know what the 'do looked like before, but I quite like the new one. And on a personal level, it's cool to have a face to put with your prose style. :-)

Your cat is lovely, too.

I wish I could have that cool, mysterious serious writer look, but I doubt that's ever going to happen. Maybe when I wear my glasses... ;-)

I think the pictures look great. It's nice to see what you look like (I have yet to post a picture) and I like your haircut. Your cat is also very stylish!

Sorry to post twice -- I wrote a fic for a Dawnficathon, which was posted in my journal on Dec. 19 (or 20?). It's called Dimensions and is a short fic about Dawn immediately post-Gift. I'd love it if you were willing to read it and let me know if you think I'm improving! :)

I'd love to read it -- where can I find the stories? I'm so out of the darn loop, that I don't even know where the ficathon's happening (you must completely despair of me).

I can answer that!

Dawnficathon Master List (http://www.livejournal.com/users/_green_/248722.html?#cutid1)

I haven't had time to read them all yet myself. I plan to, though. So much lovely Dawnfic; so little time.

The stories are all at the link below (I hit reply from my yahoo e-mail first, so you may get this twice -- I'm not sure what I was thinking but I've been off LJ for the most part for the past week so my reflexes are slipping). Anyway, this was written with the requirements Angel and lipgloss. It is a bit more angsty than what I wrote before. Writing it actually made me like Dawn better!

Hope you like it!

Neither ugly nor unphotogenic, silly girl! And I like the hair. Then again, I haven't really slept yet, so you may want to take anything I say with a huge grain of salt ;-)

LOL!! Well, I cannot take a picture -- my face has no real shape, there's no real chin or cheekbones, so it kind of disappears into a big fleshy blob, which is sort of depressing. The camera just doesn't have anything to pick up on -- and so it's like, my eyes come out uneven, which they aren't in reality, etc. I never let my picture be taken, but I guess having a camera, and friends scattered around, has made me weirdly bold.

You are not ugly, and you photograph well! :-D I saw the edges of the first picture downloading (on my slooooooo dial-up) and I thought, wow, why is she wearing a towel over her head? She really must think it's bad. *g* Anyway, the new do is lovely as can be.

Bwahhhhhh! I love it! I *should* wear a towel most of the time, or a bag! Hey congrats on the new vid site, I'm going to try, once I get back to work, to sneak a peak if I can. It's really hard to do there, though, since everyone can see what I'm doing, but it's the only place I'll be able to get a glimpse of the new site!

You are so sweet -- all I see is how mismatched my eyes are, when in real life they're perfectly fine and of the same size! And how fatmy face is... arg. I'm just never used to seeing myself on film, because I never let my picture be taken, but now it seems like most of my friends are far away, so... trying to get used to it more. It's hard!

Plus, as you already know, I love the cat :)

Hey, I noticed the moment you walked in the door!!! And I liked it a lot. Still do, in fact. And actually, the picture is quite good, you are nowhere near as unphotogenic as you think you are, you dork.
Tell me who your hairdresser is, she does great work (I think I need to do something with my mop-like 'do someday soon).

I went to Studio 904, there on the corner of First and Jackson. I like the place because they have a nice ethnic mix of stylists, including a lot of Asian folks, who aren't afraid of cutting hair like ours and would never whine about dulling their scissors. Plus, it's a no tipping salon! I stil have the picture of Cate that i gave her as my goal, and if you want, you could check it out. I can find out the name of the person if you really plan to do it...

It's so weird the things we see about ourselves and the things others see. I see a Gywnneth with dark eyes and a fabulous hairdo.

But I'd love to see the me that other people see. Because they think I am wonderful-er than the me I see everyday. That's the way of it.

Oh, that's too much rhyming:-)

It's awful how we can never see ourselves for who and what we really are, isn't it?

To stroke your severely deflated ego, as soon as i saw this pic, i thought "What the heck is Gwyn always going on about? And wow, she has such beautiful eyes." I know you will think me kind, but hey, i coulda said nothing, right? And I'm so happy to have this image completed in my little head. Now i can stalk you properly. Oh, and your hair(gah, that's the color i want!) reminds me of, as a comment above mentioned, a style that Gillian Anderson sported a short while ago. Very nice :)

And cute kitty!
