It's rare when your fannishness can help you do a better job at work. Today I proofed an article about The Shield written (very well, in fact) by a NYPD cop. I had to own my fangirliness in my list of fixes: "Actually, it's at the end of its third season" and "he's billed as Walton on the credits" and so on. Kind of embarassing, but fun, too, in a way.

Internet radio is a wonderful thing. I can't play my usual slate of CDs at work because the person whose office I'm using has some older and malfunctioning equipment. So I tuned in to some radio stations and am just finding tons of new material. Not that I need to be on the prowl for new music, especially not for vids, but still... some of these folks I've never heard of before, and it's great to get a chance to check them out aurally with no money down. It's not something I can do at home because of the dialup, but if I ever get DSL, I'm definitely going to subscribe to some of these very eclectic and hip stations.

No substantial updates for a while, such as the Buffy S6 review and the Wes thing. I'm just feeling really down, really overwhelmed and overcome and ground down by life. At some point I promise I'll get those things up, at least the S6 review. Just not right now.

I usually listen to launchcast or Live365 at work. They both have commercials, but it's so far easy enough to ignore them. And I really like how launchcast let's me say, "don't ever ever ever play this song/group/album again!" :->

I seem to have inordinate trouble getting connected to Launchast for some reason, and have only managed to connect once, but they had some cool stations. What I like about this is that it reminds me of the specialty shows on regular radio, only all the time -- where you hear really unusual things and stuff that would never get on heavy rotation. And I can never listen at the hours those shows are usually on!

Heh. That's pretty cool. Last night a had a similar cross the streams moment, with ordinary mundane life. Two guys on line behind me at Rite Aid were debating whether The Fellowship of the Ring was the second movie or the third. After about five minutes of this I had to set them straight. :)

Doesn't it just make you grind your teeth? It's impossible to keep your mouth shut when you hear people being ignorant behind you!

Sorry you're still feeling down--I hope things get better soon!

Hey, at least I'm not on call 24/7 like you seem to be. Criminy! I hope you get that other job, so you can get the heck out of Dodge.

Anytime you want to chat on the phone, just let me know. I'm finally feeling like I moved across the country, if you know what I mean :-(

I have your box of warming stuff sitting on the table waiting for Saturday, so I can mail it (the really annoying thing about being trapped out here in the ass end of Redmond is that I can't get to a PO easily). What time do you usually head to bed? Now that you're three hours ahead of me, I wouldn't want to call you when you're sleeping!

Welp, because I'm still convinced I'm living out in the countryside now (or at least staying at some rental cottage in the New England woods), I've been going to bed pretty early (10EST). Maybe a weekend chat is best, if that's too early your time. Don't worry about the house present, it's getting a lot of crap from me still :-)

I'm so sorry to hear that. I hope things improve, and soon! And I hope you're going to VVC, too?

Oh, and I love your icon! I finally saw Troy over the weekend (and liked it *far* more than I expected, given the comments I've seen), and got to see the King Arthur trailer. Holy crap, I am *so* there on July 7! Woo!
