New vid up
Jun. 25th, 2004 10:27 amI have a new vid up at my site. It's a QT file, about 16 MB, and set to Everclear's Santa Monica. Emphasis is on Angel S5, but also a lot of Buffy S7. My description is "Spike moves on with a little help from his friends." My site's password protected, so if you haven't already got the info (it hasn't changed), there's an email link, and I'll send you the sekrit codes right away when I get home tonight.
It's highly interpretive and metaphorical, in that songs about beaches, sunshine, and palm trees for vampire subjects tend to require a metaphoric reach, but more than anything, it's about making the decision to move on with your life. I know, too, that I risk people thinking that it's anti-Spuffy and pro-Spangel, but I think just about anyone who knows me knows I wouldn't do anything that overt. For one thing, my Spuffy heart will not die no matter what I do to try to kill it (DIE, Spuffy heart, DIE!). And for another thing, I just think the story of Spike's choices is more interesting than simply about 'ships.
This vid came together really fast (well, after my tendency to overcapture clips, which takes me weeks to complete) and it's the first time I ever made one with the web in mind (I figured it might be more accommodating for the forced letterboxing I gave to some of the Buffy clips). Not sure what others will think, but I felt weirdly happy with it when it was done, enough so that I didn't even really run the finished product through a beta. (Perhaps that's a caveat, I don't know...)
And I realize that the likelihood of anyone wanting to pimp this is next to nil, but in the million to one chance you might, just link to that main entry page, please.
