Mad Men has been, in a season when other shows start their decline, kicking ass all season long, and tonight I think they accomplished the impossible -- they have reached a point where they're better than their first season. Between this episode and The Suitcase, I don't see how any other show could be Best Drama at the Emmys or the Golden Globes.

Holy shit. Just holy shit.

Poor Lane! But how could he think that would go over?

Stupid Roger!

Loathsome, despicable Lucky Strike guy whose name I can never remember because I hate him!

Oh, Joanie! You are such a goddess of poise and strength.

And something I never thought I'd say, but poor, poor Pete. Jesus, the poor guy. I just wanted to hug him, and I normally can't stand Pete.

What's there to even say about Don? I have to think about that one for a long time, there are so many feelings about this, and what he's done -- I really actually felt for Betty tonight. I feel like I could write pages about Don. But it's almost hard to even start.

Totally agree. My prevailing reactions tonight were either "OMFG" or "holy shit!"

I think the most shocking moment was Lane and his father, though. Did NOT see that coming, and yes, I felt terrible for him. I also think Don created a bit of a monster with Lane, although I do believe that despite all the Playboy folderol he truly is looking for some real love.

As usual, I'm still trying to process everything. This series kills me.

I really like Lane's girl, and I would be very interested to see what happens with that -- the Brits were definitely farther ahead of us in terms of interracial romance, so it doesn't surprise me, but I also wonder what he thinks he's getting out of it, if he's not fixated because the rest of his life fell apart. But I hope we will get more glimpses of it before the season ends. Who ever expected Lane to become a woobie?

Shhh. Don't wake them.

Why am I still watching this show!!! Oh right, Peggy. If you hearken back to the first season Mad Men was the story of a young women breaking into business in the early 1960’s. That was the compelling story. Then all of the sudden it turns into the Draper angst show. Then last night out of the clear blue sky hear comes a plot line with Lane dating a black Playboy bunny!?! Where does this come from? Trite and predictable from the first moment. Peggy, where were you last night? Not one scene. Joanie still brings it because Christina Hendricks can find a diamond in a pile of shit. Roger is a caricature. Pete character has turned flat and shallow.

I still love the set design and the general 1960’s vibe, but please, Jon Hamm can’t carry this show! Someone wake up the writers. We need to get the depth back.

YOu and I will have to agree to disagree on this one! I suspect a luncheon is in order.

Seriously!! How the hell did this show get me to like Pete? I can't even believe it but when I'm feeling bad for the guy AND actually liking him, I know something is going down. This is all just so crazy, I can't even.
