And car porn. Honest to god, a couple months ago I woke up obsessed with The Fast and the Furious after having just, you know, liked it a lot before. I'd heard of precisely one story that was worth reading, but I never felt compelled to go look into it. Then I saw Chronicles of Riddick and remembered why I still loved Vin Diesel despite everything, and sat down to write about him. Got the urge to see F&F again after all that time, borrowed the DVD... woke up and suddenly had a new fandom.

I don't know what it was -- the fact that I'd been out of slash for a large part of the time pursuing my Buffyverse dreams, the fact that the Buffyverse has finally ended on TV after Angel was cancelled (please do not get me started. It's ugly in there), that I needed a summer fling, Dom and Brian's obvious undying love... I have no idea, but there it was. And with just a casual mention, [livejournal.com profile] mlyn got obsessed too, and then I made a vid and piqued [livejournal.com profile] maygra's interest and she got hooked by [livejournal.com profile] khaleesian's fic, which had already ensnared m'lyn and I in its wonderful, indidious web... and here we all are.

When I first started looking for stuff, there were no vids and not really much fic I found worth reading outside of Khaleesian's, and while there might not be an increase in vids really, there is fic in abudance all of a sudden. I mean, like in the span of weeks! It's raining Brian and Dom fic! [livejournal.com profile] khaleesian has updated Rewind, oh frabjous day.

[livejournal.com profile] maygra has put up all parts of the wonderful Unfinished Business here, and she's done a number of outtakes and codas, here, here, and here.

Then, to top it off, [livejournal.com profile] thisisbone wrote some wonderful in-between set pieces that riff off Unfinished Business, Almost and Almost Pt. 2 that are unbelievably hot and manage to hit most of my few slash fic kinks in a major way. Plus she has that guyness thing down pat, and... just, wow.

And now [livejournal.com profile] mlyn has put up part two of her stories that pick up after my own Testing Gravity at her LJ. It just keeps getting better. Up on Blocks is the sequel to Repair Work.

Go, read, enjoy, leave feedback for everyone! Even if you've never seen the movie, if you're looking for something fun and slashy and hot, these fics might just lure you in (and you can always see my vid even if you can't see the movie, so at least you can see just how hot these guys actually are).

Oh, sweet. There's hardly anything worth reading in this fandom, but now I have a few more to check out!

Hi, you don't know me. Nobody knows me omg. Or, paranoia, or, something.

Ahem.

I hadn't come across fanfic or slash when I saw the first movie, but I had when I saw the second. And ever since then I've been hunting down fic for it. There was a yahoo group for it, but to be honest, until I found the fics by the people you've mentioned above a little while ago I hadn't really read anything that hadn't made me cringe with the badness. So, thank you.

And... when is this fandom going to get its own LJ comm? I'm getting very confused and lost and silly-feeling wandering around all these individual journals of people I don't know. Could I possibly point you towards [livejournal.com profile] fastandfuriousc?

I"m not sure I understood the last bit -- did you mean that you wanted me to post this over at the LJ community? I'm not much of a community joiner, I confess -- for a lot of reasons, but largely because I see people start communities all the time and then nothing happens, they get like four posts and that's it. There seems little room for discussion and it's just often people posting badly written fic and demanding feedback, so I tend to stay away... I know that there are two yahoogroups lists, so maybe if one isn't doing it for you, you could try the other. I'm not on them, but it might help, becuase I understand that most of the fic is actually posted there (at least until this flurry of people on my friends list!).

You shouldn't feel weird or bad about going around to people's LJs, seriously. We want to meet new people! We wouldn't be posting stuff and hoping for comments if we didn't, so enjoy and click around and see what others are doing/saying -- you never know where you'll find something! I know a lot of people feel uncomfortable about LJ, but I've met some really wonderful people this way, and found a lot of really talented writers and vidders, so jumping around to read and friending people can end up being really rewarding!
