I am a bad person!
Jul. 11th, 2005 03:44 pmOkay, I just wasn't happy with one teensy little four-frame clip in Loaded Gun and so I put in the new clip (Dom's adorable little finger twist at Race Wars when he tells Johnny Tran that Jesse "went to the car wash"). And re-uploaded the vid. I'm sorry! I would be annoyed with me, too. It's really insignificant to anyone else but me, because I did it mostly for the final file that I will use when I make my vid collection DVDs. (Yes, the ones that I cannot even seem to give away, that almost no one ever asks for...)
Sorry! I have a hard time letting go of things.

Date: 2005-07-12 08:34 pm (UTC)Can you drop me an email with your address to maygra [at] bellsouth [dot] net? If you've got other stuff in the works, I don't mind waiting. or it can wait until after that. I'd like to see the redone Loaded Gun, but it may be this weekend before I download it. (That's assuming the rainstorms pass. nothing so frustrating as having the power go off every 20 minutes or so. It just flickers, comes right back on, but I've had to reset my alarm clock so many times, I swear I'm buying one I have to wind up.)

Date: 2005-07-12 04:23 am (UTC)I'd love to have a DVD of the new things not on the DVD from last VVC. (Tumbling Dice! Mag 7!
Loaded Gun! LFN! Assorted Secret Projects!) People steal my mail, though, so it would be better to pick it up at VVC. Is that okay?

Date: 2005-07-12 07:58 am (UTC)This is a song I normally wouldn't think much of if I'd heard it by itself. However, it fits so nicely with the way you've put the visuals together that it comes across as much better than it is.
As for the vid as a whole--
What I enjoy the most is the use of parallel clips. I hadn't realized until watching this that there were so many scenes throughout the movie where Brian and Dom have almost the exact same actions. Putting them together here really highlights that, and, in a way, explains why they would be drawn to each other in the film. Very, very nice.
I also enjoyed the use of the quick cuts--flashes, I guess I'd call 'em. I've been doing some painfully basic playing around in Premiere, and putting together short, rapid sequences like that are brutally hard (and makes me miss the relative ease of splicing Super 8). Very impressive there.
This has a very strong narrative thread, but not heavy-handed. A lot of nice flow within it, too.
Finally, I really liked the way you edited this so that sometimes a clip started/ended on a beat, and sometimes it was action within a clip that hit the beat. That provided a lot of variety while still following the musical rhythm.

Date: 2005-07-12 08:11 am (UTC)What? Another chance for me to squee over the vid? How dare you!?
Since you've mentioned DVDs, I need In a Big Country and Rolling Dice on disk. (That's the name of the latter, right? You know what I mean.)
