Three vids from Vividcon, two from the premieres show and one from the challenge show, are now up at my vids site. Password protected, if you still have the password it hasn't changed.

They are:
Polaroid Millenium (that's how it's spelled on the album)
By Superior
Buffy the Vampire Slayer
QT Divx avi 22MB

Bright Future in Sales
By Fountains of Wayne
Wonderfalls
QT Divx avi 20MB

Gimme Shelter
By The Rolling Stones
Angel
QT Divx avi 29.6 MB
For the challenge show: milestones

I still heartily recommend the VLC media player, which has a download link at my site. Honestly, these play like crap in the QT even though it's QT's own codec! VLC = v. v. pretty.

I might post thoughts about the vids themselves later. I don't want to get too explainy while people are still writing con reports, but on a couple of these, the process might explain some stuff that some people have griped about.

I totally love you for making that a side note. I should've figured that would bug you, too. :-)

I showed this one to some Buffy fan friends last night, and they loved it. :-)

You would laugh if you knew how much this stressed me out. Tzikeh emailed me about the misspelling and Christy told her, no! no! don't email her! I had already been busy having a cow over it.

In the end, I changed Gimmie Shelter. That's how the Stones spell it originally, and it's on all the albums that way, but everyone universally writes it as Gimme, so I gave up becuase I was already worn out worrying about Millenium.

I posted a little bit about your vids in my own LJ, but neglected to comment here--bad shell, no biscuit! I look forward to hearing more about the process behind them.

Oh, thank you. I did really enjoy making these, especially the Buffy one, even if it caused me a bit of heartache at the same time. I miss them all so terribly much.

Really cool song choice for Polaroid Millenium! It was nice to see the focus on Buffy's relationship with Giles. Haven't watched the others yet, but I'm looking forward to them.

Thank you so much! I'm glad you liked it -- I've wanted to focus on Buffy and how she "grew up" with Giles for a long time, and I had other songs in mind, but when I heard this one a few years ago, I knew this was it. Took me a while, but I got there eventually!

I've tried playing other peoples' QT vids in VLC, and it didn't work.

Also, tried playing a due South ep and it choked up my entire system after a few minutes. Apparently 350 mb files are too much for it, or it's just me not having enough resources.

That said, I lauff it so much. The playlist feature is my friend.

The only format I know of that won't really play in VLC is Windows Media -- do you think they might actually have been WMV files, rather than QT? It's possible they're also some strange codec that's really old, but I've usually been able to make VLC play them. Could also be the video card... I know you've mentioned the age of the computer, and sometimes speed or the card can affect that. Maybe we can figure that out at some point.

I tried playing Killa's "Blue on Black" and Melina's "When I Go," and I'm pretty darn sure those are .mov files. Probably a codec thing or somethin'.

Ah well, easy enough for me to view them in QT.

I think Gimme Shelter is the most perfect choice ever for Angel; it captures that dark undertone of it too well so that everytime I hear it, I get in that mood for the show. I love the beginning with the prophecy starting it all and the Corvath world opening when the music was starting to get weird was great. The clips and music worked so well together to create this feeling that there was nothing you can do that, that events just keep happening out of your control. And I love the oooh's for Cordelia's rising versus Angel's sinking. The helicopter coming and the city circling were also two cool music matches the vid moments. The shelter theme worked well for the them all trying to find a safe place to go to, to find a home which worked great against them starting the season so separated.

The "shot away" for Wes hitting the weapon going into Fred with the gun and then AI all trying to hit the beast (? I forget what he was called) was awesome especially Angel swinging and Wes pulling up the guns. I loved the people all looking up, gave the vid a much more personal and real feel. The Jasmine with her weird effect was perfect both for the weird music and for the parallel with Angel. And I love the kiss section that shows how crazy that world is including that crazy hot kiss of Wes and Lilah. Perfect end showing how even in the end it ends in a violent manner. So much love for this vid.
