Friday on my mind

It's a boring Friday, so it must be... meme time!
1. What does your Livejournal name mean?
My actual LJ "name" is just my own name and last initial. Yawn. My LJ's title is Somniloquence, which is the act or custom of talking in sleep, an archaic word that is no longer in a lot of dictionaries. It's a variation on the title of one of my most well-known Buffy stories, Somniloquy (which, like my name, hardly anyone ever spells right).
2. Elaborate on your default photo?
Right now it's a scene from the first or second ep? of the Chrisopher Eccleston Dr. Who series. I love the way Rose and he are looking at the end of the world that we know, and it also fits beautifully into my LJ color scheme.
3. Make up a question.
Where does the universe end? (That's my opening line for the novel that is never going to be actually finished.)
4. What's your current relationship status?
What relationship? I guess that answer is: Lonely!
5. What EXACTLY are you wearing right now?
Grey mock-turtleneck cotton top, grey knit pants, white socks, white Reebok "princess" shoes that are as close as I can get to my beloved old Freestyles. I work at home, people. I'm a slob.
6. What is your current problem?
Knowing what to do with my life and trying to get on with it when I don't care anymore.
7. Who do you love most?
I guess my cat, Emma. My dad. They're the only ones left, really. Does loving someone who's dead count? My sister and my mom, then, I guess.
8. What makes youmost happyhappiest?
People who know how to use superlatives!
It's hard to find happy lately, but I guess a really good movie, especially one with a BSO in it. Really good new music. Really good TV but that doesn't make me want to slit my wrists (these seem to be mutually exclusive, though).
Good food. Plants blooming. The colors I've been redecorating with. Shopping.
Good vids. Favorite fan friends who come to visit. Squeeing with people over fandoms.
9. Are you musically inclined?
Yes. Played piano for a long time and wish a lot lately I hadn't given it up. Played drums. Used to sing in an award-winning choir.
10. If you could go back in time, and change something, what would you change?
I would make my father take my mom to the hospital instead of allowing him to placate me. I would have made my sister get checked out months before her doctor bothered to figure out there was something wrong. I'd have gotten on a plane and dragged her ass to a better doctor.
11. If you MUST be an animal for ONE day, what would you be?
Dolphin. Or maybe an elephant if it's in a decent environment.
12. Ever have a near-death experience?
No.
13. Name an obvious quality you have.
I can remember the things my friends are into, even if I wish I couldn't. Even the most obscure actor or something, I can call a friend up and say, "Hey, so and so's on TV!"
14. What's the name of the song that's stuck in your head right now?
Listen to the Rhythm of the Falling Rain, which was on in the grocery store when I went up to get lunch.
15. Who did you cut and paste this from?
rainkatt
16. Name someone with the same birthday as you.
I think it's like Keats or Yeats or someone... I have no idea.
17. Have you ever vandalized someone's private property?
Hells yeah! A woman scorned... I did terrible things to the cars of two guys who did me wrong.
18. Have you ever been in a fight?
Too many to count. I was always the biggest kid in school and everyone tried to hurt me.
19. Have you ever sung in front of a large audience?
Yep.
20. What is the first thing you notice about the opposite/same sex?
If they are as tall or taller than me. Then forearms, usually.
21. What do you usually order from Starbucks?
Grande chai, no foam.
24. Has anyone ever said you looked like a celebrity?
For some reason, a bunch of people thought I looked like Lady Diana (when she was still Lady), for reasons I can't imagine. I was lightening my hair at the time, but I can't imagine two people looking less alike. Then there was the time I was mistaken, from behind, by two guys on the street who thought I was Robert Plant, in town for a concert that weekend. What a disappointment when I turned around, I guess.
25. Do you still watch kiddy movies or TV shows?
Sometimes. I love a lot of the snarky kids' toons. And of course Miyazaki is a huge favorite.
26. Did you have braces?
Yes, and fat lot of good it did me. As soon as they plucked my wisdom teeth, they all went crooked again, blowing years of hell and thousands of dollars. Bastards.
27. Are you comfortable with your height?
Yeah. I think tall people have exceeded their design parameters and we have a lot of musculo-skeletal problems to look forward to, but overall I'd rather be tall than short.
28. What is the most romantic thing someone has ever done for you?
Well, honestly, no one has ever done a romantic thing for me. I have had flowers sent to me, but they were not really romantic. I don't think men have ever seen me as a romantic gal.
29. Do you speak any other languages?
I used to speak pretty good German, but can barely remember anything now. I have a pretty basic knowledge of Spanish left but I couldn't converse. I'm learning to read some words in Welsh but don't know how to do much beyond pronounce them; I couldn't hold a conversation. I know how to proposition sailors in Swedish... and tell people soccer commands in Russian. Oddly, people never really ask for that, though...
30. Do you have a crush on someone on your livejournal?
They are legion. The sad part is that a lot of them have defriended me recently, including people I thought I was friends with in RL, so I don't have much contact with them on their end. I get crushes on people all the time, especially if they're smart and talented and fun to be around.

I'm enjoying reading this meme as it proliferates across my flist.
Another former speaker of German. I wouldn't have believed it then, but I swear I couldn't order a meal or even greet someone properly now.
