Has anyone by any chance watched my vid for the VVC premieres show, There by Grey Eye Glances for BSG, on their con discs? I was just wondering if my disc set is bad... my vid is horrible, even though I didn't do anything different from previous vids -- all the right speeds, sizes, etc. But on my copy I was just watching, it looks wretched -- everything's jittering in the frames, only a couple of clips don't look bad, the dissolves are kind of snapping off rather than dissolving... I'm kind of sick about it but I don't know what it looks like to others, and I don't remember it looking like that at the Premieres show itself, but I couldn't see anything much at all, so I simply may not have noticed it.

Arg.

It looks fine to me. The avi source is a little soft, but all the dissolves show up smooth. The one in the forest (one of the longest, I think) looks really nice. I thought it played fine at the show (I could see very well), although the projector tended to wash out the colors a little.
But, overall, it looks great on my system.

Okay, I just watched it several times now, and no jittering, etc.
What I've seen of the disc looks fine.
Did other things on your disc look wrong?

No, so far it's just mine (lucky me!). I'll try it in some other players and see what happens.

Have you tried it in a different player (assuming you have one)? Sometimes players just loathe certain vids while playing others fine and while other players play the vid in question without problems. I know that the phillips we used for the vid show happily played the version on the show's disks (as opposed to the distribution disks).

I noticed last year, the few times I could bear to watch it, that the DVD player in my mac made my vid look really, really bad&wrong (22! Separate! Problems!) while my Sony DVD player made it look weird but with many fewer glitches (around 7).

I haven't watched any of the dvds on my own yet, but will report back when i do.

I haven't yet (a friend and I are going through the whole premieres sets before she has to leave), but I will see what happens in the others. It's really strange. Just my vid so far, though my own copies of the vid on my own discs look peachy.

Well, I tried it on a couple players -- one was halfway between the bad first play, and the other was only jittery at the beginning and then settles down. But it just... I can see some clips that have trouble where someone else wouldn't likely notice it. And it's very depressing, but I guess shit happens. I just wish it happened to someone else! (It's that old thing of knowing people probably think you're a major fuckup)

I got a little bit of jitteryness at very the beginning of There with the Sony dvd-r in the living room but it is gorgeous on my SMC. It looked fine at the show.

Yeah, that seems to be my experience with the other players. I can see clips that are having problems just because I looked at that vid so damn many times. Wah. Not much I can do about it though; everyone will just think I'm an idiot who makes bad files, probably.

I don't think so. I only noticed the tremelo because you pointed out it was there. Otherwise, it would have blended in pretty seemlessly with the hand-held camera work.

I don't have the dvd, but I just watched the downloaded version, and it ran just fine. It was also wonderfully done.
