I'm putting this up for anyone who wishes to comment on my vids.

I'm not a huge vid watcher but...

I always watch the vid show at Escapade and have actually seen a lot of vids. I'm just too lazy to go looking for them. Yjay said...

Your Mag7 vid is my favorite vid ever. It's an awsome pimping vid too. And for someone who isn't affected by music like a lot of others seem to be, it hits me at that gut level that other people seem to get from a lot of music.

And I'm not really good with the communication thing so let me try it again. I love your vids.

Hi

I’ve been meaning to give you feedback on your vids for some time, but RL just got in the way. Therefore the vids have collected a little bit, and I hope it’s ok to take them all at once.
But first let me say that I really appreciate that you make vids in some of the smaller fandoms, like Deadwood and Band of Brothers. A huge thank you for that – and a huge thank you for making such good vids as well. : )
Just a small note, I haven’t much experience with giving video-feedback, and so no grip on the technical terms.

After Rain

I love this one, and I keep watching it again and again. I usually delete some vids on account of hard drive space, but this vid I’ve kept for over five months. (I said I was a little late in giving you feedback). First of all I like the general feel of the vid. You have chosen a modern song, and yet it matches that 1940’s feel Band of Brothers has. I also like the way the lyrics match the clips, often in subtle ways. For instance “You turned and ran for shelter” matched with Nixon reaching for VAT 69.
The effects used are also very effective. I particularly like the close up on Winters face that fades into Nixon out in the rain. The clips that look the title sequence are also a favourite. I cannot imagine how you managed them, but they give the vid that extra feel that truly sets it apart.

And finally I love the positive ending with the juxtaposition between the Toccoa picture of Winter and Nixon, and Winters and Nixon watching the ball game. Would you believe I never caught how the Toccoa picture echoes the final shot before I saw you vid? And I have watched the series a lot of times. I think that is what makes this video stand out for me, in that it adds something to my viewing experience of canon – and enriches it.

Come to Jesus

I will admit it took some time before the connection between the song and the clips clicked in place for me, but when they did it was a thing of beauty. Generally speaking watching your vids is for me like reading a short story. I need to see/read the material several times before I see all the layers. I mean this in a good way, as your vids manage to invoke a subtle storytelling I really appreciate. Come to Jesus is a very good example of this.
This vid to me is about contrast. The most obvious one between the hauntingly beautiful song and the gritty images from Deadwood. More in particular the scenes that stand out for me are the reverend having a seizure while the lyrics go “You have Jesus standing near your bedside”, Bill falling of his chair to “Come to Jesus and let him hold you in his arms” and “Here in heaven you will finally understand” to Al closing the Reverends eyes.
If After rain leaves me happy, this video haunts me. But that’s sometimes good to.

BTW – I understand that this vid is made together with another person? Unfortunately I don’t know who he/she is, but I hope you will forward feedback to them as well.

There

I will admit I had some problems with the beginning of this vid. It might have been the music and that odd rhythm box, and it might have been that the beginning was a long clip of Laura in the doctor’s office – but after the beginning I was hooked. This is a very good character portrait, and it showed the beauty, strength and some times strangeness of Laura Roslin. I also felt that the song fitted the character very well, and the lyrics were a very good match. After repeated viewings I must say that I appreciate the slow, contemplative feel of the video – as it matches Laura. I particularly like when the lyrics go “ Strangers I meet…I keep them at a distance, it’s not the time for me to let them inside” and matches this with clips of Laura and Commander Adama, the security guard and Apollo. This told me a lot about her character. I will not say that this was my favourite video, for that the beginning still doesn’t sit well with me, but all in all I like it very much.

I don't know if I ever sent you comments on your 'Miracles' vid - 'Darkness, Darkness' - I probably didn't. The first time I went through your vid archives I knew very little about 'Miracles' and what I did know turned out to be wrong.

I kept seeing comments from people whose judgment I trust about how much they likthe show and then [livejournal.com profile] killabeez wrote her fantastic essay in [livejournal.com profile] ship_manifesto and that clenched the deal.

I downloaded and watched all the episodes but that wasn't enough - I had to buy the set.

Anything fannish concerning 'Miracles' is in woefully short supply, but even were we brimming over with contributions your vid would shine through.

The clips you chose were a small, but concise taste, a promise if you will, of what was to come in this short lived series. The darkness that Paul feels pushing in around him, that he's desperately trying to find a way out of, and the desperation that pushes him toward Alva Keel.

This was wonderfully paced and, as always, your choice of music was inspired.

And re-watching and commenting on 'Darkness, Darkness' reminded me that yesterday I downloaded your Big Eden vid and hadn't watched it.

I love this sweet, quirky, touching movie and I feel the same way about your vid. Once again, inspired choice of music. It describes perfectly the way Henry, and esp. Pike, are. Lovely montage of clips. They blend so well together. And you showed bits of everything and everyone, including Henry's feeling for Dean, the gorgeous scenery and all the wonderful supporting characters in this movie without losing site of the fact that Henry and Pike are the center of this story.

Love it.

I'm a big fan of all your vids, but I just wanted to express my awe of one in particular - Black Soul Choir. It's so...gah. It's just perfect for Jayne. The song fits so so well. I don't suppose you have any advice on how to get hold of it short of buying the whole album? It's so rich and dark and twisty, I love it!

Hey, Gwyn! Your Angel/Lindsey vid, Blood/Lust was always one of my favourites, along with Lum's Struggle and Sisabet's Last Stand in Open Country, so I was devestated when my motherboard fried and I lost all my vids. I got a new 'puter and have been attempting to re-DL them all, which brings me to the actual point of this comment (see, I do have one!) While perusing your site to re-download "Blood/Lust", I discovered your Big Eden vid and you could possibly have heard my squee about 3 miles away. Big Eden is probably my favourite move evah, and I was thrilled to see you made a vid! And the song, "Words Fail" is absolutely perfect for Pike and Henry.

Thank you so much! I now have two favorite vids from one trip to your site!

I loved this so much - I often think on the fact that Jack is always an observer to history and never really the point of the story, he's always there, seeing, feeling and experiencing - but he's almost always in the background. I like that Ianto provides that grounding - that limelight in a way for him to not be forgotten when everyone else goes home so to speak.

So last night I watched Big Eden and maybe drunken-flailed a little in my lj, and when I woke up this morning [livejournal.com profile] sdwolfpup had pointed me in the direction of your vid. Naturally, I downloaded and watched right away.

I can type now I've stopped crying. Thank you so much - that was an incredibly beautiful vid that encapsulated the film perfectly. It broke me and put me back together just the way the film did and I know I'll be watching it many times. (Piiiiiiiike. *smish*)

Flashpoint vid! And it is *excellent*. Very nice mixture of the coolpants actiony stuff and the more emotional heart of the show: Ed and his family, Wordy and his wife, Sam and his past life as a soldier. I am *very* happy to have found this vid. :)

You have no idea how happy I was to stumble across a Flashpoint vid; it was beginning to feel like I was the only one watching the show. So to find that there's at least one other person who not only likes it, but likes it enough to vid it as well as you did? God, SO HAPPY. Thank you so much.

(Also, that little clip at the end never fails to crack me up.)

Polaroid Millenium was really amazing. Made me miss Buffy and the gang.

I also realized that I watched your Justified (Lost Cause) vid long ago when I belatedly was first thinking of checking out that show and it really made me want to watch it. So belated thank you.

Just found my way here via a rec on LJ. Absolutely loved your Pacific Rim vids, both 'Brother' and 'Radioactive' left me smiling (if a bit misty eyed for the former) and definitely looking forward to Pacific Rim 2 :)

And I also thoroughly enjoyed the Marvel vids, 'How You Like Me Now' in particular was tremendous fun. So thank you for all of these, wonderful work, bravo!!
