Seattle area peeps help!?

Hey, local peeps: I need your help. I have to rip up the carpet in my living room and hallway before the addition to the house construction begins. I was thinking of having a demolition party on Sat. real soon now -- for the promise of keeping you well-fed and well-liquified, you could help me with this rather annoying project and earn my undying gratitude.

My house is very small, which means not too much square footage to tear out, but it does mean moving some heavy furniture around, cutting those sections away and then pulling up the evil sharp pointy staples from the padding, and prying off the carpet tacking along the walls, then moving the furniture back. With a small handfull of people, I think it would take a little more than an afternoon.

I was tentatively shooting for the Sat. of May 26 or June 9 if that would work for people who expressed interest; if you think you could make it then, or there's a better weekend, please let me know and I can try to schedule for the most convenient (I know Memorial weekend sucks, but I run out of weekends till July). And also let me know your preferences of foods and beverages.

Sadly, I think I'm still going to be on my big whirlwind roadtrip at that point. Although considering the condition of my shoulders, I'm not sure how much help I'd be with the whole moving heavy furniture and ripping up carpeting thing, anyway. :-p

Saturday June 2 is when Laura Shapiro is in town and we're having the lunch at Wild Ginger (you said yes to the dinner, btw, but I wasn't sure if you saw the change to a lunctime event? I have you as a 'Yes' for attendance, if you can't make it, let me know. :) ).

Maybe the weekend of the 26-27? That's the Northwest Folklike Festival, but it's also Memorial Day weekend so more people might have time off. I could certainly make that. :)

Crap! I totally forgot that was that weekend. I thought it was later for some reason. Okay, I will pick a different day. I have a bad feeling no one will be around Memorial day, but I can try.

You could try June 3, maybe? Or the weekend after? Or volunteer to drive everyone home after lunch on the 2nd and then surprise them with a stop at your house. Hee. :)

I'll see what happens -- I was trying to avoid a Sunday in deference to my friend Michael, who every once in a while likes to do manly things for me, but it may not work out and I will need a Sunday after all. I just HATE asking for help so this is always a really difficult thing for me.

We don't have practice the first saturday of the month, so that would work great for me. Of course, I can help you get a head start the friday before, if you want, also.

SDW pointed out that's the weekend Laura is in town, and then I know there's a weekend we have another friend in town and I think we scheduled the bash for then... crap. I'll try either the following, which I know means you can't do stuff, or Memorial weekend... unless it doesn't work for anyone in which case I will cry. I was trying to schedule around Michael, but I think it may not work.

I'm in. I've ripped up plenty of carpet (3+ rooms' worth) in my day. I think I even have pliers perfect for destapling.
