OMG OMG OMG
Mar. 31st, 2011 03:52 pmOh.
My.
God.
I just saw an ad for a new show on CBS called Chaos, starring Eric Close (Vin in Magnificent 7/ Michael Wiseman in Now and Again, Martin in Without a Trace), James Murray (Stephen in Primeval), and Freddy Rodriguez (from Six Feet Under). HOW did I not know about this series? You are all fired for not telling me about it. It starts TOMORROW, y'all. Did I mention you are all fired?
It's SO weird because just this morning, I was wondering what the hell Eric Close was up to these days. Now and Again is still one of the best series I have ever seen on TV, and I'm sure my feelings about Mag 7 are pretty well known, especially my affinity for Vin.
Apparently they are a group of rogue CIA spies in the Clandestine Administration and Oversight Services (where they get the H, I don't know), and it's a comedy drama. What I could see on the commercial features plenty of bickering and hijinx. It's from Brett Ratner, who I generally think is a dick but who also gave me Prison Break, so I can't completely hate him. I mean, it's spies!! I love spies, they're my favorite TV story.
James Murray and Eric Close together... with bonus Freddy. I am beside myself. James Murray is going to be on my TV weekly!!! Of course, Eric and CBS are generally unmixy -- these are the fuckers who cancelled N&A and Mag 7, after all. And out of all their stupid procedurals, WaT was the only one they cancelled at a relatively young age. Oh Eric, I hope Ratner's mojo can save you this time, because DAY-um, I want you back.

Date: 2011-03-31 11:13 pm (UTC)Um. oops? *g* I track so much right from the in development stages (and I'm so out of the fannish loop), I think I assume other fans do the same! (thefutoncritic is awesome for this). So, yes! Potentially very cool new show starts tomorrow! I think you might like it! Heh. (I already have my Season Pass, in hopes...)

Date: 2011-04-01 04:50 am (UTC)I've gotten out of the habit of reading a lot of things like Futon Critic... I guess I better get back in the groove because I only stumbled on this by accident, and think how close I came to missing it it!

Date: 2011-04-01 02:52 pm (UTC)I actually have their "Development Update" in the "My Shows" area, so it (theoretically) sends me an email whenever they post one.

Date: 2011-04-01 11:21 am (UTC)So YAY! I'm looking forward to it.
And I'm going to try a new approach, since, like you, network TV all-too-rarely truly satisfies (Friday Night Lights is a wonderful exception -- any other show would have been cancelled after four lackluster-ratings episodes, but it's concluding FIVE, count 'em, FIVE seasons with a series finale that they knew was coming and had time to prepare for, and is, from all reports, immensely satisfying).
Anyway. My new approach is to think of it like a party I've been invited to. I like all the people I'll see there, and yeah, some asshole may ruin it eventually, but I'm going to have fun with my friends and not let the assholes get me down!

Date: 2011-04-01 03:14 am (UTC)Eric Close and James Murray together. I can already hear the slasher limbering up their fingers and sharpening their quills just from the weight of the commercials alone.
The show is going to have some heavy weight talent. I hope the writers can keep up.
