Say hey

Just popping my head up to say hey to people again and ask a question.

First, I got my absentee ballot in the mail today. Whee haw. That means I get to vote for Prez and Govner before a lot of other people! OTOH, it means my vote gets counted later than them. But I need those because it forces me to really sit down with my pamphlet and information and pay attention -- otherwise I often don't read up on the issues and blow it at the polls because I'm trying to cram info while I'm voting.

Second, who is Joe the Plumber? I'm sure that if it's connected to McCain, an asshat, but is he an imaginary asshat or a real one? I know you're probably shaking your head that I should know this but...

my confession...

I am assiduously not paying attention to politics right now. That's one of a billion reasons I've avoided LJ so much lately, and why I've been avoiding news. I just can't handle it. With the economy in the toilet and my deep-seated fear that McCain will win, I just don't want to listen to things. Especially not debates. That was the best thing about leaving Slate -- no more late nights and 60 hour workweeks while we toiled on endless windbaggery about the elections. The last one was bad enough, and I'm so very glad I'm not there now, as it would be intolerable having to spend every waking hour talking about this. I'm just politically burned out to a point where I can't even look. Mock me if you will, but I can't take it anymore.

My birthday's on retail Friday this year. Hm, I wonder what that means... if only I actually was making any money. I could have an economy-boosting spending spree. Alas. How come no one's talking about Project Runway last night? I'm not surprised by who won. I was really torn on that. I did think it was hilarious when they announced Tim stepping in for the guest judge, and the shot of Kenley's crestfallen face and her "I guess I should have changed my attitude" comment made me howl with laughter. I am nothing if not petty.

Yeah, I know the feeling. I'm trying hard not to lose hope, but the way this country has been lately...

I've been seeing bits of Project Runway around Tabatha's Salon Takeover (my new favorite show!), but not enough to form an opinion about who should win. What did you think about it?
