I have already entered into the full panic stage about this, and posting about it makes the panic rise to 11 (it's one louder in my head), but... I'm selling myself this year. I threw my vidding hat into the ring for the [livejournal.com profile] vividcon auction, and for reasons I can't begin to understand, they picked me. I assume they felt the need to fill out the roster with lame mediocrity that would only generate a few dollars from people who were outbid on better vidders, since they also had a bunch of superb vidders that will bring in high bids. Lameness, represent!

Ahem. Anyway. Every year since they started this, I have considered joining it, but then I talk myself out of it because I already feel fragile and pathetic enough each year after the con, and being the one who generates a couple of bucks when other people get like $500 would make me feel even worse, but since this year I am especially unsure of whether I can go or not, I decided that at least this would allow me to participate in helping the con even if I can't attend, and in this economy, maybe there will be a smaller discrepancy between cool vidders and... well, people like me. So I vowed not to let this fear of being the sad person no one wants keep me from participating.

I also recently had the chance to make a vid for someone to their (thankfully pretty general) specifications, and it was fun, and I loved making a friend happy and I also got a fun vid out of it, so there's that. Auctioning yourself off is a bit different, but I think it could be productive, nonetheless. At the very least, a learning experience.

My little (read: longer than anyone else's) blurb is here, at #4. It doesn't even really begin to name the sheer volume of fandoms I can vid in, especially because there are almost literally a metric ton of movies I can vid to, and dozens more TV shows I am familiar with and could do (I didn't even, for instance, mention most of my childhood loves or the things from my teenage years I adore), or other shows that I watch but that don't seem to have much fannish interest, such as The Eleventh Hour (UK or US), Masterpiece Theatre type British stuff, and even shows I used to watch but no longer do, such as ER. Obscure and short-lived fandoms R Us!

So yeah, if you want to buy a vidder but don't have much money, I'd probably be the cheapest date on the list. ;-)

Cheap date my ass. You are going to cost me big time.

I have a Middleman idea that would be perfect for you. I should probably watch the show to find out if it is actually perfect for Middleman.

Hee. Okay, now I am dying to know why you think I would be perfect for something. Especially Middleman! I still have yet to see the final few eps, and we've never been able to locate a watchable copy of episode 2, so somehow if I do vid Middleman, I have to get hold of that episode.

I saw that, and am all excited about it! I have no money whatsoever (well: what money I can scrape up will be going toward paying for my plane fare) but I wish I could commission you to make something, because I love your vids a lot.

I wish I had money too, because damn, I wish I could get pips or talitha to make something for me. That would be funny -- one auction vidder bidding on another.

I am VERY PLEASED that you offered yourself up for auction this year. I anticipate there is no way in hell I'll be able to afford you, but a girl can dream. Or get a bidding group together. I have Plans.

I'm actually scared as hell, but... this is the year of no work, so I imagine I'll have plenty of time on my hands after my class is over in May. Starving, but able to vid. ;-)

You're saying my name, baby. Actually, if you look back a few entries in my lj I mentioned my favourite Mag7 vid which was your In A Big Country, eee! And other people love it, too (and pointed out the link to your vid page which is made of win) so there's proof that not only are you wonderfully talented but that vid isn't recent and it's STILL talked about. ♥♥♥

You're on offer. I have money. It's a win-win situation. :D

Trust me, you probably wouldn't have to pay much. ;-) But I hope that it will be a fun experiment. It feels very weird!

I put the Lost Language of Cranes on my Netflix queue because I realized it had been years since I saw it. I thought of you, of course.
