Finally. Here are the three premiering vids from Vividcon.

The first one is from the Premieres show, for the series Mad Men. I was genuinely surprised and pleased that so many people grokked it even without knowing the show, and that it didn't come up as lacking as I thought it might because I had to make it so quickly, since my first obligation was to make the auction vid. Most of all I was excited that the changeup in the middle was clear enough to people -- that it was going from that sexytimes vibe to oh, wait, this is really harsh and ugly. Yay for not having vidfail!

I just really loved this song for the show -- it's a modern song, but it harkens back to the early sixties so well with that swingy sexy vibe and the violins and most of all, the xylophone! How awesome is it to find a modern song with a xylophone?

Mad About You
Artist: Hooverphonic
Fandom: Mad Men
Is it wrong for these women to be so mad about these men? Yes. Yes, definitely.
Streaming: here and this is the embedded version from Viddler, I think this is the only one I'm going to embed here just to keep the post shorter.

Lyrics:
Feel the vibe, feel the terror, feel the pain
It’s driving me insane
I can’t fake
For God sakes why am I
Driving in the wrong lane
Trouble is my middle name
But in the end I’m not too bad
Can someone tell me if it’s wrong to be so mad about you
Mad about you
Mad
Are you the fishy wine that will give me
A headache in the morning
Or just a dark blue land mine
That’ll explode without a decent warning
Give me all your true hate
And I’ll translate it in our bed
Into never seen passion, never seen passion
That it why I am so mad about you
Mad about you
Mad about you
Mad
Trouble is your middle name
But in the end you’re not too bad
Can someone tell me if it’s wrong to be so mad about you
Mad about you
Mad
Give me all your true hate
And I’ll translate it in your bed
Into never seen passion
That is why I am so mad about you
Mad about you

Also known as [livejournal.com profile] kadymae's $400 vid! I could not have asked for a better person to make a vid for in the auction. We were totally on the same wavelength and we're both passionate about the fandom, and when she sent me the songs, I already had both of her options, so that was a pretty good sign it was kismet. I absolutely loved finding clips for the "And it's on" parts, especially poor misunderstood psycho killer DK in Tokyo Drift. This is the fourth vid I've made with F&F stuff -- I think this means I'm the default F&F vidder. :-) The credits are from a Motion template that I discovered accidentally one day. When else would you get to use something titled "winner's circle"? So totally full of awesomesauce.

Super Bon Bon
Artist: Soul Coughing
Fandom: The Fast and the Furious film franchise

Move aside, and let the men go through.

Lyrics:
Move aside
and let the man go through
Let the man go through

If I stole
Somebody else's wave
To fly up
If I rose
Up with the avenue
Behind me

Some kind of verb
Some kind of moving thing
Something unseen
Some hand is motioning
to rise, to rise, to rise

Too fat, fat you must cut lean
You got to take the elevator to the mezzanine
Chump, change, and it's on, super bon bon
Super bon bon, Super bon bon

And by
The phone
I live
In fear
Sheer chance
Will draw
You in
To here

I've thought for a long time this needed to be a dance vid but every time I mentioned the perfect fandom for it, Charlie Jade, my CJ loving friends would look at me funny. I think it totally works!

Twilight Zone
Artist: Golden Earring
Fandom: Charlie Jade
Streaming: http://www.viddler.com/explore/gwyn/videos/2/
The gun's still warm.

Lyrics (are there people who still need them considering how old and familiar this song is?):
Somewhere in a lonely hotel room,
There's a guy starting to realize
That eternal fate has turned its back on him,
It's two a.m.

It's two a.m., the fear has gone
I'm sittin' here waitin', the gun still warm
Maybe my connection is tired of takin' chances
Yeah there's a storm on the loose, sirens in my head
I'm wrapped up in silence, all circuits are dead
I cannot decode, my whole life spins into a frenzy

Help I'm steppin' into the twilight zone
The place is a madhouse, feels like being cloned
My beacon's been moved under moon and star
Where am I to go, now that I've gone too far
Soon you will come to know,
When the bullet hits the bone
Soon you will come to know, when the bullet hits the bone

I'm falling down a spiral, destination unknown
A double-crossed messenger, all alone
I can't get no connection, can't get through, where are you
Well the night weighs heavy on his guilty mind
This far from the borderline
And when the hit man comes
He knows damn well he has been cheated

omg, yay! A Fast and the Furious franchise vid! Something I've been waiting since FAF came out. I love the intro and the interconnectedness conveyed in the vid (in the frames, characters and arcs). Just, \o/!

(P.S. I think you missed a .divx on your download link for the vid? http://...vid/superbon is supposed to be http://...vid/superbon.dvix, I think.)

Mad Men is one of those shows that's still on my To Watch list, but the narrative of the vid came through loud and clear. Very nicely done.

A Mad Men vid! And it's perfect! The song choice is inspired, and the theme comes through very strongly.

I've never seen Mad Men, but "Mad About You" is really striking -- the color, the palette, the wardrobe, the gender stuff. I loved someone's point during vid review that at the start of the vid the women are putting themselves together, and by the end they've been taken apart.

And I've never seen TFATF, but I loved "Super Bon Bon," mostly because the vid felt so perfect for the song. (And you really do like Mike Doughty, don't you? *g* Me too.)

mmmmm, what a terrific F&F vid! you've managed to distill the series into a fantastic vid, set to one of my fave songs. I watched it at work, and again just a moment ago before downloading it, because this is totally a keeper!

I had a great time identifying clips; this is the essence of all about the movies/fandom that's captured my heart.

It's great to see someone vidding Charlie Jade. I think it's time I did a re-watch of the series and maybe even use the footage for one of my own.

Super Bon Bon is one of my favorite driving songs. Though after this, I may have to avoid driving to it for a while, if I want to escape a ticket...

I totally enjoyed the F&F vid. The sorta screechy sounds in the song worked incredibly well with the action and the heavy beats really conveyed the badassery of the cars. If that makes any sense.

Very nice!

I loved your vids so much this year! I know we talked about "Mad About You," but I didn't get a chance to blather about "Super Bon Bon," which is SUCH a tasty treat. Gorgeous motion, just stunning. You turned me on, and I don't know these guys and I don't care about cars, so I'm mightily impressed! Fantastic titles, too, and you know how obsessed I am about that. (:

Just watched both Mad About You and Super Bon Bon and thoroughly enjoyed them. They were both superbly edited and lucious to look at.

Mad--what a great song choice! And although I've never seen the show, I felt quite connected to the narratives of the women portrayed. I also think that if I had to match lines to characters, I could, for I feel your editing choices really conveyed a sense of character as well as narrative.

Super Bon Bon--I don't know this source either, but I didn't have to to enjoy the hot cars and hot dudes. Very snappy and fun, and love the titles! Also, it was fun to perve on all the older cars portrayed--they got their due here.

Oh, I LOVE the Charlie Jade vid. It really does work and now I'm totally in love with the show all over again. Why did I have to lend out my DVDs? WHY?

And see, the wonderful way you've put this together with Charlie's life coming apart metaphorically and literally and the messiness that surrounds it all just proves even more that I wish I'd had enough money to compete in the auction and win you so I could have asked you to make a Charlie and 01 vid to What I've Done by Linkin Park (not a band I'm particularly into but the song works so well for me, not least because at the beginning there's a sound effect that sounds just like the credits of CJ and I'll stop rambling now). Curse my not-so-deep pockets.

Twilight Zone is one of my favorites from the disc. It's just such a beautiful match of source and song - almost *looks* like a 1980s music video - and extremely clever musicality all through.

Your Mad Men vid is simply superb. You've covered the trajectory of these three relationships so phenomenally, I so wish the show would focus on these three women more. The opening and closing of the vid are inspired, how they doll themselves up to fit into this world of theirs, and by the end they're all taken apart and bruised by it. Perfect song choice as well, both lyrics and the vibe of the song go so well with the source.

I have to ask, is there a downloadable version of this somewhere? I'd love to be able to re-watch at the drop of a hat :)

Aw, thank you so much! It's so great that there's MM love out there, especially because I think the show kind of lends itself to a gravitas that not everyone likes in vids.

It's available in DLable divx format at my web site for vids, gwynethr.net -- you'll probably have to scroll down a bit, under miscellaneous fandoms, to find it. It's not too big a file, I think. And if you want a dvd, just email me privately at gwyneth at drizzle dot com and we can figure that out.

I tried the site, but the download link for the vid only brings up a page full of symbols and letters. Not sure what I'm doing wrong there.

I did get 'Brick House' and 'Jump Around' though, both very excellent and happy-making vids. I think 'Valentine' will get many a replay as well ♥

I checked it out and I'm getting an HTML page download. I have no idea what's going on... I think I'll have to fix the vids and repost them, but right now I don't have a lot of time. And it's weird, they've worked fine before. I don't know why they're all of a sudden not working right.

I might be able to put a copy up on megaupload for you -- stay tuned.
