Date: 2020-03-12 12:45 am (UTC)Get Drew was one of my favorites just for the chance to see Tim being his badass vet self. Sometimes Jacob Pitts turns it on a little too thick and he's ACTing to beat the band, but everything about him recognizing a threat, calling Colt, circling the wagons, lighting a Molotov cocktail...that definitely works for me.
The other thing that works brilliantly was Art's enthusiastic recognition of what a legend Drew/Shelby really was. That entire speech, nay, that entire scene with Raylan and Rachel bickering and then the "whore's underwear" thing and then Art's impassioned recitation of Drew's history was just FLAMAZING.
Amused with how they worked the song lyrics into the episode, Raylan saying "get out of Harlan alive."

4.11 - This episode contains two of my favorite moments, which you mentioned: "People underestimate Bob at their peril" and Tim's IED instincts.
Everything about the hide out at the high school is so well done. The tension, the dialog and the way the stairway conversation is shot are all top notch. The standoff and the reveal of how Rachel and Drew got out are just so well done. This is the show firing on all cylinders.
And the highway standoff is equally well done. It kind of reminds me of an old western, which I'm sure was intentional. It's really great that Tim was able to get this story line and he and Colton play really well off each other.
One of my favorite episodes out of the whole run.

I love Boyd sitting on the floor trying to get a rise out if Raylan and Tim. Also heart eyes for Rachel telling Boyd to shut up.
Boyd: "Oh you'd still get to shoot people. And be an asshole. Your two favorite activities. Except you'd be a rich asshole."
Raylan: "More like dead or in jail."
I think Raylan's right there. Also, I have as big a soft spot for Boyd as anyone, but I do not see him as being very rich, or that the outlaw life worked out well for anyone he's known on his side of the law. He's a real optimist though. Interesting that Boyd didn't know Arlo had died. I feel cheated out of that scene between them. Wish it happened there, in front of Tim.
To be honest, I kind of wish Ellen May and Drew/Shelby had made it out. Though I am glad Raylan got his man and gets to be marshal famous.
That scene with Raylan and Rachel is great. I like Rachel bossing Raylan around. <3 "I swear to god i'm gonna start singing show tunes." How awesome would that have been lol.
Oooh, then Art shows up. Even better.
(incidentally, they do have pentecostals in mexico.)
The relationship between Wynn and his bodyguard/henchman is... odd.
Oh I forgot they all end up at Noble's Hollow. Again. All in all, not a good call on Ellen May's and Drew/Shelby's part going there.
Nice choice to have the ep end on "how to get out of Harlan alive."

Date: 2020-03-16 06:40 am (UTC)Ew. i hate it when they show a tooth falling out. *gag*
Enter Picker. He'll always be the janitor from Breakfast Club in my eyes.
Marshals v Detroit Mafia. But, one of the main reasons I love this episode is that it's actually Raylan v Body but acting *through* Marshals v Detroit. Guarantee that's how the writers pitched this episode in their writers' room. Which one can outsmart the other?
Also, seriously, there is nothing so attractive to me as Tim's spidey sense going off, being dead certain that those abandoned cars are IEDs, and being absolutely right about it. Tim is a badass. That PTSD comment is amazing. And that conversation between Tim and Colt is riveting. Also, also, it's great watching Art follow Tim's lead, a bit doubtful but ultimately putting his faith in Tim's knowledge. Many other bosses would have gotten their men killed.
Watching Bob get beat up was rough, but he sure knew to cut the right artery.
Raylan: "You got your gun?"
Bob: "Yeah." *waves* gun
Raylan: "Here. Take Yoda's"
Bob: "Yolo's"
Raylan: "Whatever"
LOL. Yoo Hoo. heeeeee.
I have no patience for Johnny Crowder.
The lesson taken from this episode is that you can't out smart Tim or Raylan. And people underestimate Bob at their peril.
