Surprise!Martin Shaw is surprising

How did I never know that Martin Shaw was in Cranford? I finally got around to watching the second disc of the series, and suddenly when I least expect it there's Martin with his salt and (a tiny bit of) pepper beard, smiling with that fantastic chipped-tooth smile. I about fell out of my chair. He's only in it for a few minutes, but he plays Judi Dench's long lost brother, and so a dream I never knew I had about Martin Shaw and Judi Dench acting together came true.

And if any of you knew he was in this and didn't tell me, you're fired.

And yes, I got the discs so I could familiarize myself with the series so I could see Return to Cranford for Tom Hiddleston. Shut up.

Sorry! I know I squeed about it to the locals.

They've been showing George Gently on a local PBS station, and I adore MS in that, too.

Oh, yikes! I never managed to watch Cranford but the one thing I knew about it was that Martin Shaw was in it! I am SO fired from fandom, I'm sorry! I second the rec for George Gently. I really liked the eps I saw and want to track down the rest of it.

And IMO Tom Hiddleston is a good enough reason for just about anything, really. It's inexplicable; it just is.

Whoa. I wonder if that's why Hiddleston looked so familiar to me? Huh. I don't know that I'd seen him in much else. And it's been so long since I've seen Cranford, I didn't even remember Shaw....
