Veronica Mars, the movie

This has been all over my flist this morning, but I have to add to it, because I pledged money and OMG I am going to get a phone message recorded by Kristen Bell out of this, not to mention a backer t-shirt and other goodies. All that's beside the point -- there is gonna be a movie!!! In the time between when I first saw the mention and when I went to pledge, it had reach 1.03 million.

I wonder if, once and for all, this will shut the powers that be up who insist that fandoms do not translate to money.

I have a whole other post I've been meaning to get to, but that is seriously trumped by my glee at the idea of a Veronica Mars movie. I don't even care that I'm still sick.

Yeah, I'm pretty filled with glee, too. It's been amazing to watch the numbers creep up! And I love the sense that these actors genuinely like each other and miss each other and also their characters -- that comes through for me in the video very clearly.

Oh, FFS. I am never interested in the sourpusses, I'm really not. Life is fraught with sorrow. Something like this, which will bring joy to so many fans, is an unmitigated good, if you ask me.

Oh, this is so awesome. And my god, look at the numbers climb! \o/ It just made it up over $1.5 million. I just sat there hitting refresh again every time the page loaded, and the number of backers was jumping by 1-5 people every time - they're practically getting a donation every second.

Hey, go big or go home, baby! To be honest, that took up a big chunk of money I might have donated to other artistic endeavors, but it's been a long time since I felt so strongly about something that I'm willing to give up some things in order to donate to it.

I saw this when I came home from work today - I'm glad that A)the pledges over $10 are only being avialable within the US and B) most of the higher end pledges are already sold out, that's gonna save me some serious money.

God, wouldn't that be great? And I see all these people pissing and moaning about it, and I'm just like, wow, you know, the world is changing right now, and this is in the forefront of that change. Why not enjoy what it will give us?

Did Thomas mention anything about a script or a plot for this film? Wondering about this because of his plans for S4 VM: Veronica goes to the FBI, basically plays Clarice Starling.

Is this what the Kickstarter contributors are funding, or something more like the original series?

Yeah, all he's said is what ozfroggirl mentioned, but that sounds pretty good to me. I actually enjoyed that FBI teaser thing, but since I don't know how much of an audience it had, maybe Thomas is treating it like a throwaway.
