In an effort to avoid vidding my CVV vid yet another day, I'm doing the 21 first lines meme. Most of the recent ones are from Yuletide, of course, since I so rarely am able to write since sis_r's death.
When Charlie Crews found him, Ted Earley had been working at a car wash for over a year. (The Moon Cannot Be Stolen, Life)
The strangest thing about Loki’s arrival, Pepper Potts thinks, is that he came to the front door. (Who Only Stand and Wait, The Avengers)
Joanie Stubbs stared at the gargantuan cookstove again, glanced helplessly at Charlie Utter, and threw her hands up in the air. (The Outward Gift, Deadwood)
There were two kinds of people in this world, Tim Gutterson had always believed: those who talk, and those who just do. (Lesser Angels, Justified)
The night sky was painted red and orange by the flames from Eindhoven and bright with the arcing white light of tracers. (Safe, Band of Brothers)
The holidays had proven to be a quiet time at Jolly Fats Wehawken Employment Agency, and that suited Wendy Watson just fine. (The Mirrorball Malefaction Misapprehension, The Middleman)
John Casey cleaned his third-favorite service weapon, the trusty old SIG Sauer, for the second time that week. (Because Your Kiss (Your Kiss) Is on My List, Chuck)
As he made his way through the apartment, Ed Lane kicked clothing, shoes, a number of CD jewel cases, and a few other things that Greg Parker couldn't quite identify from his vantage point on the bed out of the way. (Someday We'll Look Back on This and It Will All Seem Funny, Flashpoint)
When Vin Tanner arrived at Chris Larabee's small homestead in the hills far outside of town, he wasn't expecting to find his friend curled up under a mesquite tree, snoozing away the afternoon. (Don't Get Much, Magnificent Seven)
Every time Sgt. Tanner hit the table with his fist, Brian O'Conner twitched. (Ciudad de Estrellas, The Fast and the Furious)
Waking. (Yeah, that's sad... The Measure of a Man, Buffy the Vampire Slayer)
He takes a step through the heavy snow, foot sinking down till he's knee deep. (The Silver Moon, Magnificent Seven)
Don Eppes sat on the edge of the pool table and looked around the room, making mental notes of everything he'd need to include when he filed his report the next day. (In the Blood, Numb3rs)
The desert sun slanted low in the sky, casting an orange-red glow across the paper Dominic Toretto held in his hands. (On Beds of Sorrow, The Fast and the Furious, 2 Fast 2 Furious)
Letty made a pass through the house without finding anyone home -- which seemed odd for a Friday night -- before giving up on it and knocking on Mia's door. (Torque, The Fast and the Furious)
The wind like the rush off an engine, warm air lifting her hair to trail out behind her. (Mercy Street, Angel)
Sometimes when he dreams, lying out in the courtyard in the heat of evening, in that half-waking state where you swear it's really happening, he can feel a hand feathering over his head, then lips on his. (Testing Gravity, The Fast and the Furious)
Falling down, down. (Assumption, Buffy the Vampire Slayer)
It is silent outside, the way the world always is when it snows at night. (Snowfall, Buffy the Vampire Slayer)
He found Wes in his office, as always, poring over some text or other with pictures of sacrificial goats and alarming hieroglyphics. (All the Tea in China, Angel)
This is how I will write it down: that love is real, and doesn't always leave you when you need it most. (The Sun, the Moon, the Stars, Buffy the Vampire Slayer)
</lj-cut> Gee, that was fun.
