Never been like this before
May. 8th, 2014 10:01 amor, So It's Come to This Part 2
After trying to talk myself out of making a vid from a crappy cam copy of Winter Soldier, I caved and made the thing. I don't even know myself anymore: I grew up in the VCR vidding era, and cam copies are way too much like vidding on copies of copies of copies of tapes, but they have the added bonus of people not being in frame or being squeezed on the sides of the frame because of the curvature of the screen. I apologize for crappy visuals. Last year I was so consumed with feels that I wanted to vid a cam copy of Pacific Rim, and when I mentioned it on the plane to VVC to killa and rache, they smiled indulgently, but I managed to allay that need until the discs came out. I have no such fortitude this time.
And yet I couldn't not, I don't know if anyone else will enjoy this song, but it spoke to me so much. My Steve + everyone feeeeeeels, let me show you them. I will absolutely be remastering this when I get the DVDs. I'm not going to post to my vid site, I think, until then (or I might, who knows).
It's a little tough to hear the rain sounds at the beginning if you don't have it turned up, but I also loved that this talks about a storm of epic proportions (it's from the movie Take Shelter, which you should all watch), because that's so much the theme of the movie.
Shelter
Artist: Ben Nichols
Fandom: Captain America: The Winter Soldier
Summary: All I know is to keep you close.
Shelter
See those storm clouds rollin' in
Just like I knew it would begin
Midnight sky at noon today
Shelter's still so far away
And I don't know just what we'll do
I don't know just where we'll go
All I know is we've got to move
All I know is to keep you close
Never been like this before
Stormin' match a paler horse
Water's red and the sky is black
Take my hand and don't look back
I don't know just what we'll do
I don't know just where we'll go
All I know is we've got to move
All I know is to keep you close
All I know is to keep you close
All I know is to keep you close
I don't know just what we'll do
I don't know just where we'll go
All I know is we've got to move
All I know is to keep you close, close

Date: 2014-05-09 06:14 am (UTC)I just can't believe how many intense feelings this is giving me. Steve with his faaaaace and Sam with his twinkle and Natasha with her aura of awesome and then there's Bucky who BREAKS MY FUCKING HEART. And I mean, Pacific Rim kind of wrecked me so I was sort of fan-feelings immunocompromised already, you know?
Thank you so much for the Tumblr mention, too-- I'm not really sure why I ever bother putting my vids up there, since I have so few followers and I swear it's where my posts go to die, so that made me my heart grow two sizes. :-D

Date: 2014-05-09 06:31 pm (UTC)Anyway. I hope they don't follow canon too closely -- because though Bucky gets better, he does it away from Cap for a really long time. Steve knows he's out there, and Bucky's looking out for him, but they are apart for so many stories. So I think this movieverse tack of having him save Steve, of Steve being his last mission, is a much more wonderful way to go, and it of course opens up infinite possibilities for us. And it's cool because they have been pretty good about keeping to Bucky's mental state -- the "who the hell is Bucky" and the memories he grapples with in the bank vault are all true to Brubaker's comics, so I have faith that Bucky is going to be healed by the power of love. And since that is my second favorite trope, I'm hanging on to that like it's my lifejacket.
I'm SO EXCITE about you having stories already in the pipe. I haven't had any #$%$& time to write much of anything of significance, just the little double date story, and it's KILLING me. I have to finish this awful fucked up guidebook that's taking all my time, and I'm terrified all the ideas I have will float away -- I write them down, but a lot of times when I look at something later, the core of feeling has evaporated from it and I don't know what I wanted to achieve.
