belmanoir and I were lamenting how difficult Tumblr is to use, how unintuitive it is and all the things you can't do. And I was griping about how much of the social media today isn't very social -- you have these limits on what you can write, how you can respond (if you can even respond at all, which Tumblr sucks at), and what you can use it for. I have a terrible time posting pics here, and I always want to post about the things I love with pics, so I started a Tumblr account a while ago.
It never occurred to me to share it with anyone, because it's mostly my tea blog that I moved there to keep up with the kids these days. So far it's just been my mini-reviews about tea and tea-related things. But I decided I can't just talk about tea all the time, so I added my shoe fetish in. I'm constantly browsing Zappos and other shoe sites and fashion blogs looking for shoe things. I'll never be able to afford or wear the things I love, but I also enjoy the kind of wishful thinking aspect.
I bought those gorgeous Dries Van Noten sandals I posted about earlier this year, but they turned out to be terrible for my feet (I have weird-shaped feet and an abysmally high instep that makes a lot of things with ankle straps or high straps over the mid-shoe not work). I wanted to keep them and pet them and call them George. But alas, they were simply too much money for something I couldn't wear. I did get another pair of his sandals with iridescent leather, and they were perfect for club vivid. But it wasn't quite the same. Now I can just post pics of things I dream about instead.
