gwynYay, we have fandoms in common! This makes me happy, and I will be super excited to get a vid in one of these fandoms we both love. Squee!!! My notes are pretty explanatory in most cases, but here's some information that hopefully you'll find helpful.
As fas as music goes, I'm pretty open-minded. There's not much I dislike in terms of genres, outside of modern jazz and death metal, and even then I might even be persuadable. But there are definitely artists I dislike, often because I have synesthesia and certain types of voices or the way someone sings can actually cause me physical distress. If you'd like to know who'd be best to avoid, feel free to have one of the mods ping me. I'm not a super big fan of a lot of the current pop princesses, and really, top 40 hits right now are usually not my thing, though there are always exceptions to the rule. I think a lot of it is that I don't respond well to stuff that's auto-tuned. Really, though, most things are usually pretty safe with me--and I love everything from EMD to folk rock to bluegrass to hip-hop to singer-songwriters to pop hits. What makes a great vid song to me is something that drives a story. I love narrative vids, or characters studies, or vids that say something, and a lot of that comes from a judicious song choice. That's truly one of the great joys of vids, for me, is discovering new music or hearing something I never thought about used in quite that way.
Fandoms:
The Fall: I love this movie so much, and really, like I said in my notes, I'd be happy with anything here. I think something ethereal and otherwordly could be really cool here, but there's so much out there that could work with it, I think. I'd be happy with any kind of vid, but the thing I love most about this, outside of the visuals, is the relationship that builds between Alexandria and Roy.
Happy Endings: As I mentioned in my notes, I am pretty certain I'm the only person who's made vids for this show. And I would just love to see a vid that I didn't make. ;-) This series is so much fun, and it'd be a ball to get a team shenanigans vid, or just a fun friends vid, or something about one of the characters, or relationships. My favorite would be a Max vid because he's such an entertaining pig, or Max and Penny and their bizarre friendship could be serious fun. You might be able to convince me there's a serious character study in here, but I think a fun, sprightly vid is more in keeping with the show.
Kings: I've wanted to see a vid for this for years that satisfies my love of Jack Benjamin. Everything seems to focus on other characters, or focus on David with Jack, but I am all about the Prince Jack here. I especially love the soldier prince aspect of his character, and the poor gay baby aspect. No one cries like SebStan, you know? Something that focuses on one of those aspects, or both, could just make feel like I died and went to heaven. And while David's not my favorite, if you wanted to do a friendship or slashy vid for them, that's cool, but I would definitely prefer for the focus to be about Jack. That may not dovetail with what you wanted, so if it is really outside your purview, a vid about the whole series would be fine!
The Losers: There are a lot of great Losers vids out there, but why can't we have one more? Since I'm very Captain America-adjacent this year, I'd love to focus on Chris Evans's character Jake Jensen, but if you don't think you can swing that, I love everybody. I also really love Roque and Clay together and was always sad that they turned Roque bad, so if you wanted to make a fix-it vid, that'd be fun. But yeah, my heart belongs to Jake.
Political Animals: So yeah, I am all about Sebastian Stan this year, and this is the other thing I absolutely adore him in beyond reason, and part of the appeal is the poor tortured gay baby son of a terrible political father. I love that TJ's a fuckup in a lot of ways, but that he wants to not be one, and I think that no one in his family had any idea who he was and how to help him and that he had untreated issues. I would love a vid that explores who he is as a person in his own right. I wish I had some ideas for songs, but I'm sure you can't go wrong with something emo and angsty.
What's Your Number: I am embarrassed by how much I love this movie, but I do. I just love seeing Ally and Colin fall in love, and both of them learning who they can be in the process. Something bubbly and light seems the obvious route here, but maybe there's something sweetly achey and romantic that would work too. And if you can put as much naked Chris Evans in as possible, you will have hosannas sung to you.
