Lately, I am prone to violence
Apr. 9th, 2003 10:38 amI feel as if lately all I post here is curse-filled foul-language posts directed at networks, and now I have another one, the kind where I realize I could easily, if I had access to my friend's Uzi, go in and kill everyone at our local UPN affiliate.
Next week's NEW Buffy is going to be pre-empted for a fucking baseball game. Because, you know, there aren't 500 baseball games per season, so it's important to show every single one. And who cares that there are only 5 more episodes of your lynchpin show? So all of you in western washington whose UPN affiliate is KSTW, we won't get to see Buffy until nearly a week later -- on Sunday, at 8 pm. Currently, KSTW's schedule says they're showing Out of My Mind in that slot, but I sent them a horrible, swearing email and they responded that it would be on that Sunday the 20th at 8. I am going to also keep calling them. If you feel like calling them too, to express your displeasure and disgust, their number is 206-441-1111. Call early, call often!
I also have no idea if this is going to continue -- if the rest of the Buffy schedule will be affected. If I can get through to someone in programming, I will ask.
And Spike looked SO yummy on the teaser they showed at the end of the repeat of Never Leave Me last night! Absolutely edible! And Seattleites won't get to see it! I fucking hate these stupid bastards. I didn't think it was possible for me to hate the Mariners, their fans, and the network that shows their games more than I did, but I do now. I wish for an earthquake to swallow the stadium that we were forced to pay for (voters in this state turned down a funding initiative to build a new baseball-only stadium a number of years ago; the owners of the team went on television and cried -- I am NOT making that up -- and blackmailed legislators by saying they would take their ball team and go elsewhere until the legislature agreed to overturn the vote of the people and make us pay for the stadium with higher sales taxes), with all the asinine fans in it.
And on a cheerier note, HAPPY BIRTHDAY to
merryish!!!!

Date: 2003-04-09 01:20 pm (UTC)Does it make me obsessed that I'm wondering where the closest non-UPN airing of Buffy on Tuesday night is? Suddenly sounds like a good time to visit... say, Yakima, if that's far enough.
*shudders* Yakima. The places I'd go for Buffy.
Thanks for posting- I'd have been SO upset (even worse than now) if I'd gotten all excited for Tuesday only to find fucking baseball. Ugh. And I'll call that number to complain.

Date: 2003-04-09 01:27 pm (UTC)I was looking through my tv guide when it came yesterday, to see if they might do a special callout on the ep since Faith was coming back. Only to see baseball. Went immediately to the online KSTW schedule and they only had Out of My Mind up as Sunday's ep. I've left the programming person messages saying that this is very confusing, and that it's a really terrible time to choose baseball over a primetime show. I was polite, but... firm in my anger. I also wanted to ask if it's going to happen again.
Re:
Date: 2003-04-09 11:25 pm (UTC)Me too but I have no clue what to do. I need to find out where it is airing. Portland you say? I have family in Vancouver but I don't know if they get it or not- if they'll have baseball too or not.
The thing is, I'm going out of town two days after it is supposed to air so I won't be around for it to be ran on the Sunday.
I'm going to try to get my hands on a tape. I have a few friends who might help me out. *crossing my fingers* Of course it would have to be overnighted since I leave two days after it airs everyplace but here. Grrr.
When I called, the programming person told me that Buffy will air as normal after this, but baseball will run before the episodes and if the games run long, Buffy will be rescheduled.
See me not happy. GRRRR.

Date: 2003-04-10 06:45 am (UTC)Probably not. Oh, well.
When the new TV Guide came, I did my usual scan through and saw "Miracles" listed on Monday night. I got all excited, until I went to tvguide.com and checked there: The Practice. I guess they pulled "Miracles" after press time. How early do they go to press, anyhow?

Date: 2003-04-10 09:23 am (UTC)But thanks for the birthday wishes! It was pretty nice, yeah. I had fun, I slept, it was all good. =)
It is possible...
Date: 2003-04-11 09:24 am (UTC)Which means it might be possible to circulated it before it airs. Or buck myself up and have people over for viewing, which I haven't done since Dec. 20th's Firefly.
I am steamed about the baseball thing, absolutely steamed. Cranky, even. I don't think anyone should have to wait.

Date: 2003-04-11 11:30 am (UTC)Even knowing that there's a 90% chance I'll get it Monday night, I'm still upset. I mean, there's only a few episodes left, and HUNDREDS of baseball games. Feh!
Re: It is possible...
