A very, very happy birthday to one of my favorite people I've met in fandom, [livejournal.com profile] lordshiva, also known as Kalima in the fic realm. I hope it turns out to be a wonderful day in your new digs!

A very unproductive weekend, though I can't count going to King Arthur as a waste of time, especially since I will be likely to go again soon. But then I dicked around most of Sunday morning, writing a review and cleaning house and putting new varnish on my toenails (opalescent clear with pinkish tones, if you must know), and only got a tiny bit of work on the deck in before [livejournal.com profile] trollchild came over to watch La Femme Nikita first season and see some vids. At last, at long last, someone else who's gone as ga-ga for Michael/Roy Dupuis as I am. I'm giddy with joy.

Finally, also, got my new debit card over a week after they shut mine off, so I walked up to the ATM and tried it out. I stopped in at the store and bought a bottle of black cherry soda for the walk back, and as I went through my alley to the back of the house, this guy came out of one of the back yards at the opposite end of the block. He stared at me, looked at the bottle, said hello in this tone dripping with disgust, and then walked on. The bottles look like beer bottles, so I guess he assumed I was some drunk bitch wandering around the 'hood taking pulls off my brew just because I was bored and tired of drinking at my own home. Or something. Deeply amusing. The house belongs to the church next door, I think, so that may have had something to do with it -- they have a LOT of AA meetings there.

And then I watched The Fast and the Furious, because after writing about Vin Diesel a couple weeks ago, I got a hankering for that stupidity-fest. And now... now I want to write a little slash story. I've been writing it in my head all morning long. I am deeply, deeply ashamed. I've been afraid the Slash Police were going to take my slash card away from me for a long time now, despite the Miami Vice story I wrote this past fall that only three people read, so maybe I should write this just to keep my card. Otherwise they'll shut me down just like the bank did. But I'm so ashamed. Why, out of all the things I could write, would I want to write F&F slash? I need help. That's all there is to it.

Oh, I can so top you on this: I actually went out and bought the stupidity-fest.

I'm fortunate in that I can always borrow the stupidity-fest from a friend who also bought it -- this way I don't have to add to my collection of moronic movies, but still get the benefits of seeing Vin in the slash.

See? There must always be those of us brave enough to buy the stupidity-fest in the interest of fostering creativity!
Or something like that.
