I probably shouldn't do this, since I'm in that awful "woe is me" headspace I get in when I realize that the words people always attach to me and my vids are these matronly, boring, or treacly things. Reading con reports is a v. bad thing, sometimes -- the picture people have of you and your work is not one you want to have and then you're all like "i never want to vid again why am I bothering I suck and no one ever just says hey you did a good job or you're a good vidder and like the Big Big Truck meta vid pretty soon your characters will be breaking the fourth wall and telling you you suck stop now" space. Yeah.

So right now I never want to vid again but if I did I would be doing these things that are in my head and will probably suck or be nicely safe and boring and as one person keeps telling me completely unmemorable (she does, she tells me every year she remembers nothing of my vids but she's sure she likes them) and matronly like support hose. I am the support hose of vidders.

Finish Scary Kisses by Voice of the Beehive with [livejournal.com profile] sherrold so poor Sandy can be quit of me, the only one in progress

The Fast and the Furious -- Loaded Gun by Hednoize so I can use the crime and racing clips

Magnificent 7 -- In a Big Country (so what? I think it could work) for Vin and Chris (duh); someday that Alison Krause thing just so Wingbow will have proof, with Jo

La Femme Nikita:
6 Underground by Sneaker Pimps for Club Vivid except this year I don't remember hearing any slow-groove sexy dance numbers so maybe they wouldn't want it
Center of the Sun by Conjure 1/Poe which would be freaky and weird
Touched by VAST even though it's been done five million times because I've wanted to do it for five million years and watched everyone else do it in the meantime
She's Going to Change the World by Chris Cornell because it's been on my list for five million years since [livejournal.com profile] tzikeh suggested it

Brimstone -- Letting the Cable Sleep by Bush, with Jo

X-Files -- lots of ideas, none coherent

Buffy and or Angel:
The Noose by A Perfect Circle (Giles) though I don't want to cause Jo pain
Polaroid Millennium by Superior (Buffy and Giles)
Primitive by Annie Lennox (Buffy and Giles, what's with the Buffy and Giles obsession? Must be because I haven't done anything with them for ages -- no, not romantic! Minds out of the gutter people!)
Gabriel by Lamb (Buffy, moving on from Angel)
(Don't Bother with the) Local Girls by Graham Parker (Xander)
Female of the Species by Space for the entire cast of both series
Jump Around by House of Pain for entire Angel cast, for Club Vivid (great use of shotgun Wes!)
Hurt by Johnny Cash (Wes)

Firefly:
I have vid ideas for every character but none formed fully yet

Hornblower-- Native Son by Oysterband (Goddammit, someone has to do a HH and Pellew vid, and I guess it falls to me) with Jo

Keen Eddie -- The Pretenders song that won the poll

Miracles -- I Want to Make the World Turn Around by Steve Miller Band, with Jo

Miami Vice -- Red Rain by Peter Gabriel, with Jo

Something for Sharpe, if I can ever find a fricking song
Something for Due South, if I can ever find a song again

Multimedia -- Alcohol by Barenaked Ladies but I want it to be a Cannibals group vid and we never do group vids anymore, sigh

(Jo, are you getting this? We have vids to do! Or, maybe, if I can quit feeling like support hose)

Big Country! Big Country! *bounces enthusiastically*

My God, there aren't words for how much I hope you make this an M7 vid. Please, please, please. And do you think I Could Be Happy Here would ever work for Horatio/Bush? I go back and forth between thinking it's a great idea and thinking it's stupid.

I don't know -- I'll have to listen to it! I can't remember enough right now... But Jo's the serious Bush gal so I'll mention it to her tonight. It doesn't help that I have the hiptronica station playing all the time so the beat drives everything out of my head. It's painful to make M7 vids with the terrible footage these days, especially when fans are so unforgiving about bad source. But it's not like I have a choice...

Dude, I think your vids are EDGY and EXCITING!!! Would I have fallen so hard into vidding if YOUR VIDS hadn't PUMPED ME UP?!? NO. I wouldn't have. You're an ARTIST, Man. Word.

Well, apparently you are in the minority. Sigh. It's just diminishing to the enthusiasm sometimes when you see what people think (or don't think) of your work.

Alcohol! Yes! Do that.

And then do "Red Rain" once you get those DVDs (or even before) because it will make me happy.

The bad thing about the MV discs is that it's going to take forever for all the seasons, and then it ends up being the same problem I have with LFN -- one or two on disc and the rest in crappy off-airs with weird patterns in the broadcast. The tapes of MV are so old as well -- and I think that's what's stalling Jo, but I keep thinking of this and I've wanted to for many years... the nice thing about DV is that we can at least make things look a tiny bit better. Not a lot, but it does, at least, not add to the loss like tape to tape.

Yeah... the worst part is that most of this wasn't criticism! It's just the usual back-handed compliments and I end up feeling like I'm some workmanlike failure. It makes me tired. Especially when it's someone who views things as this, when it couldn't be farther from my intentions, which were entirely that.

Anyways, I'm glad you like the Hurt idea -- I love the Cash version so, so much -- Trent Reznor's howls are all well and good in the original, but Johnny's version is just. so. painful. Perfect for a guy whose whole life on the series was one long stretch of pain. Now watch some asshat come in and steal the idea and slap it up and pretend it's theirs!
