I am a tad spamalicious today because not only did I do a movie post, but now I have to squee about my new cover that
mlyn made me for my Fast and the Furious WIP novel Ciudad de Estrellas. Isn't it purdy?? I have put it up as a tombstone style header graphic on all the parts. My only shame is that I do not have a new part for all those "where the hell is part 6" people, to go along with my shiny new art. But I think this says everything about the piece -- it's got a pensive Dom and a serious, contemplative Brian (that's my favorite picture of Vin, btw), stars, and the LA skyline and a freeway. I think it has a nice melancholy feel, which is how the story is for me, and where it is going (to some angstier places, though not as dark as some of the things I write). (oh, and also, the next part is where we will discover where I came up with that darn title.)
I've never had art done before for my writing, and between this and the beautiful cover X did for my Mag 7 story Pilgrim Heart, I feel blessed, particularly because I'm such a lameass and haven't written anything for so long.
And I do not know if I should get into a bidding war with my adored
_par_avion over the vidding services of
lierdumoa in the Vividcon auction -- she outbid me earlier today and now I'm contemplating whether we could go to the mats like in one of those cool movies where the competitors try to outbid each other at an auction for some priceless artifact. See, I've never had any money to do anything like this before, and I'm getting some money from my sister's estate, so I thought, hey, why not, for once, make someone *else* do a vid for me instead of tearing my hair out over one myself? But then, I realize of course that I *can* make my own damn vids, and not everyone can or wants to make a vid, so bidding on a vidder is a great way to have that done for them, tailor-made, and to help the con out. I love the idea of a good vidder working themselves to death for my vision, rather than me! But the fact is, I can do it, so I shouldn't try to take the chance away from someone else. But there's a certain fun to the bidding process, I must admit.
But anyway, cover art! And soon, maybe, I will feel better enough to write. I wonder if it's possible sometimes, but... I hope I will do m'lyn's beautiful art justice.

Date: 2005-04-07 02:14 am (UTC)I completely concur with this. I think I'll be bidding for dualbunny's fine services, as I do believe she may be the only 'Miracles' fan in the bunch. Then again, I'll be learning how to do them via computer myself at VVC this year, so....shrug....?
