I am floundering with the writing, though it is coming along. Chapter 9 of Measure of a Man is getting done, but I'm at the action set piece and I hate writing action, even though everyone tells me I'm great at it. It's almost as painful as writing sex scenes. And Part 7 of Ciudad de Estrellas is coming along, just very, very slooowwwlllyyy. Apparently we are now at the all-talking portion of our event. Now that I'm out of vid farr, I don't know what to do. I have all these projects on my list, but these are the only ones really burning a hole in my pants. So tell me what to do. I don't see the point in wasting my time remastering No Way Out, frankly, but I put it on the list just in case there is one person who cares. And I keep thinking about my Keen Eddie vid, but I don't know if I should save that for Escapade, or ditch it because I did Keen Eddie for the con two years ago. I'm never sure if movie vids are worth it, either, considering the movies I like tend to have smallish audiences or they are vidded out. Just don't get too ticky-box happy, because this is more what I should do next, not whether I should make them at all.

I did not check all! I just checked some!

And yes to BoW because It needs to be Vidded! (although I have this entirely off the wall and totally impossible urge to see something done to Dave Mathews "Gravedigger" but only because the song creeps me out in a good way.)

Oooh! I agree...BoW! And y'know? Gravedigger would actually kinda fit in a total freaked out way.

Well, you know me, whatever I choose will be... different. I like this song because it is slow and mystical, then faster, then superfast, so I can do all kinds of things with it. I'm sure, though, that the vast majority of listeners will loathe the music, just because it's got that atonal quality to it.

You can't look to me for DMB, though -- I hate him with the white hot fury of a thousand burning suns. Not as much as I hate the Grateful Dead, but he's up there pretty close.

I tried to limit myself on the vids, but it was hard as you're looking at vidding shows I am currently madly in love with.

As for the Firefly vid, I put no, don't wait, unless the vid idea will be affected by events in the movie. But we need more quality FF vids so I'm torn. :)

I actually have multiple ideas (Kaylee, Jayne, more Mal, a Wash/Zoe... I think I might even have found something that would work for Book, but I'm not sure), and I think all of them would be just as successful with or without the movie, hence my indecision. Oh, well, it's not like I don't have a ton of other things to do!

There's No Way Out of Here is one of the vids that made a huge impression on me when I was a newbie vidder. I understand totally if you don't want to remaster it, but I would be interested in it if you did.

I actually liked A Man Apart, and would love to see what you'd do with a vid for it.

If neither of those are to your liking, I'd love to see a Fraser/Vecchio DS vid, but I don't really have any suggestions. Well, other than the one that I've been thinking about since 1999 but never seem to get around to: The Man with the Child in His Eyes by Kate Bush (Vecchio POV). If you want that idea, you're welcome to it.

(And have you seen Serenity? You might want to make vids now, before you get jossed. *g*)

Oh, I've seen it. I knew what happened, anyway, so it wouldn't matter. I don't really care about the jossing thing.

I have ideas for Due South, I just can not for the life of me remember what they are. I will have to go through my music collection, no small feat, and look again because I can't remember what they are beyond one song. People give me suggestions for vids all the time, but... even though I take them, I have never done one. I seem unmotivated unless I discover the song myself, or it's part of a group vid spearheaded by someone else. So unless I find it on my own, poor Fraser and Ray are doomed.

Small comment on the Firefly: I wouldn't wait for movie footage. For one thing, some of the characters look quite different. Mal and Inara and Wash are close to the way they looked in the series, but Kaylee and Zoe and Jayne are much thinner, and Book has changed.

I don't know if you've seen one of the previews for Serenity yet, but if not, it's possible the plot could affect the content of the vids you've planned, as well.

Yeah, they do look different, but honestly, if people changing physically prevented you from doing vids, I'd never have been able to make any of my X-Files or Nikita or Buffy vids! Buffy especially changes so dramatically from the beginning to the end it's almost like seeing another actress. One person remarked on a Scully-centric vid that I did that "it's like a catalog of Scully's hair syles." So, you gotta go with what you're given. And yes, I've seen the movie. It really doesn't affect any of my ideas, just that it provides more opportunities.

You could, umm, always make another 'Miracles' vid, what with the shiny, new DVDs being released and all (she opines meekly).

Oh, I will. I have a song and everything. It's just that I still haven't quite figured out what to do with it, which is why it's not burning a hole like the others. I may just wait and do it for Escapade... I still haven't made a decision, just because I'm not sure of my direction on it.

Yay, me can't wait to see! I have found that finding a few good songs for this fandom is gonna be a interesting challenge for me. A while back somebody suggested 'Serenity' by Godsmack (speaking of) for an Alva POV, but I think the song's been used lots elsewhere, so I'm still trying to find songs that are a bit more unique. Wheee!

With Firefly, it largely depends on the vid you want to make. If there's footage that you want/need from the movie, then wait. But if you can make the vid without it, September would be a really good time to release a new FF vid, don't ya think?

My only FF vid idea is for River so I've decided to wait.

Yeah. Good points. I'm trying to focus on characters I haven't done yet (which is hard considering how viddable poor Mal is). So, lots to consider. I have songs for a lot of people!

I would love to eventually see a remastered No Way Out vid. It's one of the best vid I've seen for paralleling themes in shows and would love to have a shiny copy to show as an example.

However, if now is not the time to work on it, I'll be patient :)

There was so little interest in one of my digitally remastered Buffy vids before, that I guess I just haven't seen the point. Especially because, I don't know... the source wasn't that bad, really, for most of the vid, so it doesn't seem like much is to be gained. I stumbled on a better copy to digitize for my XF/LFN vid project... but honestly, so few people ever DL the current copy of No Way Out that it seems a huge effort for the very few people who are interested. I cared way more how bad Do What You Have to Do looked, but I was apparently the only one!

I was evenly split between the first Deadwood and Keen Eddie, with a slight preference for Keen Eddie because the last glowing rays of its one golden season are still with me.

I voted 'what's firefly' even though I know what it is... I just don't feel the love for it.

I would lovelovelove another Keen Eddie vid from you (which is what I voted for...).

I've been watching KE with a friend and so my love is all abundant again for it. I'm honestly quite surprised that so many people have voted for it.

Out of my three choices, I'd have to say that a due South vid leads the way. I'd be happy to see a due South vid of any stripe from you, though a RayV centered vid would be an absolute delight. Barring that, a Keen Eddie vid would also be a very, very good thing. I really like your Keen Eddie vid, but alas, I think it is the only vid that exists for the show - and that's a sad state of affairs. Third choice would be a humorous BtVS/AtS vid.

That is just so weird. LJ totally ate my reply. Put the comment up, but blank.

Anyway, [livejournal.com profile] sdwolfpup did a great little vidlet for KE, but I can't find it linked at her site, so I will have to ask her about that. It was to I Know What Boys Like, about Miss Moneypenny's effect on Eddie.

I chose Brotherhood of the Wolf because you said 'very weird and atmospheric' and that's enough for me.

You'd better think of a track to go with 'ticky box' though - seems to be rating highly. ;)

It's a really, really cool song. I was hoping for more votes, but you're right, ticky box is pulling ahead. Though the Buffy humor vid is neck and neck... and I was so hoping that wouldn't get that many votes! It's too big of a project in some ways for me emotionally right now... too much backend work. But a deal's a deal...
