Sunday night and no one will see this, but I'm done, and I'm tired, and I'm gonna post it anyway. The final part of Ciudad de Estrellas is finished at long last. I am glad to have it complete. I love my boys, but this has been a hard year to keep things going on a WIP. Now, I will no longer have to listen to people criticize me for not writing fast enough to suit them. Weight off my shoulders.

Ciudad de Estrellas Part 8: Salvation is here for the remaining few people who haven't given up on me in disgust or been eaten by one of the new fandoms. I need to collect all the song titles for the Bruce Springsteen lyrics and put them in at the end, but I'm going to do that when I'm slightly less stressed by work, teaching, and construction crews mauling my back yard.

Vin got all poetical! I liked that and didn't expect it. It speaks to his long friendship with Dom, that he wants him to be happy no matter where it takes him. And I liked the way he was the one who talked to Leon. It's not who he was, but it makes sense that it's who he is now, given all that they've been through.

I like that the guys aren't just living in a bubble, but are dealing with people's varied reactions, and that those reactions are specific and grounded in the movie and fic backstory. It keeps the story feeling real.

My biggest fear was having Vince get all poetical -- that people would see it as bad yentaing, or something. I wanted the whole thing to be funnier, in a way -- the idea of Vince doing that, and Dom freaking out that Vince was doing it at all. And I'm physically incapable of that kind of "and they were all gay and accepting and lived happily ever after" ending, so I'm really glad that you appreciated it. It feels realer to me, I guess. Sorry it took so long to respond; I was kind of in downer mode after finishing.

Woo-hoo! I have the next 2 days off and I'm going to revel in the yummy deliciousness that is Brian/Dom! I'm going back to the beginning of the fic and read it straight through!

I've been following this story for a long time. Last night, I finally read Salvation. Boy, I am amazed! Dom and Brian are so complex and yet so similar. If it's possible, you made me love them more than I could ever expect.
