You speak now
Jan. 27th, 2009 11:23 pmI am having some serious downerness lately, things that are almost too big for me to deal with and I don't really want to talk about. They're just depressing as hell. But there are a couple things that really help me get through it: friends and kitties. In the past couple days I've been able to Skype convo with
morgandawn, go shopping with
mlyn, get some really serious vidding help from
killabeez and plan a get together so she can pimp me Primeval (yay!), talk at length with Katharine about the Escapade vidshow this year and get things hammered out a bit, and help
kassrachel with exporting her vid (marvel at that for a moment, those of you who've spent so many hours helping me with my complete technical inabilities).
And the kitties, while still being terrible about getting along, have been beyond adorable the past few days, I don't know why, but maybe they just know I need extra cuteness doses. I gave them the last of the liver from
feochadn's big liver fry-out last week on our midweek tv viewing night, and it was just such a pleasure watching them dive in and gobble it up, and I swear they were smiling.
But then I go back to thinking about all the stuff weighing me down. So, help me out -- tell me something that's helping you get through the days. I have my tax appt. on Wed night, and that's going to be even more depressing, so the more "things that make you happy" notes, the better.

saw the dvd to dr. horrible's sing along blog, and that made me super happy -- especially commentary! the musical.
the tv making me happy: life, chuck, eli stone, the tudors, and dr. who (also -- don't tell anyone -- 90210, which is horrible, but fun)
hooking up with old friends on facebook
hanging out with my kids, who are much more fun to be around and much less work than they used to be

Date: 2009-01-28 09:26 pm (UTC)We should watch Chuck together or something sometime. I just got the first disc of the 2nd Tudors season and it was great fun. More discs to come! I'm thinking of possible even keeping Showtime, though I know I shouldn't, just so I can see the 3rd season without having to wait a year for the dvds.

Date: 2009-01-28 08:51 am (UTC)It may take longer than I was ready for, but sometimes it's a matter of gritting my teeth and keeping a lid on it no matter what, and other times it's just cut loose with the waterworks if you just can't stand it any more.

I do an altered version of Lamaze breathing. Didn't help with births that much, but has come in handy since then. At work I have a few postit notes around my desk that say ZEN in caps to remind me to breathe.
Do take care!!

Finishing a knitting project and having it not be sucky.
Good coffee, green tea, good iced tea, bubbly white wine.
Kitty kisses.
Hearing our president speak, and the feeling that this person may not be the god some hoped for, but he's intelligent and thoughtful, and he has a plan.

Date: 2009-01-28 10:58 pm (UTC)The big reason I love my little yard is the variety of birds (including some pretty uncommon ones) that I get to see fairly close-up. And both grey and black squirrels, too.
