Date: 2020-06-16 10:55 pm (UTC)Christ, Boyd is just an evil, terrible motherfucker. I mean, we forget about that all the time, because of his loquacious, flowery language and the way he loved Ava at first, but he's a freaking bastard. I feel like they did this very pointedly as a way to make sure we remembered just who he really was, after they'd fallen in love and kind of let things slide with him. So that we don't feel bad with where he ends up.
That ending, with Raylan walking down the center of the street, couldn't have been any more High Noon, even though it was at night. Poor Art.
Vasquez has always been a voluble but reasonable guy; his insults to Art and Rachel, his bad temper, were really terrible here.
Poor Mikey. I mean, he was a thug, and it's hard to feel sorry for him, but in the end he tried to do right by Wynn, only too late. That fight with Katherine was brutal, and it's probably the only time I can remember seeing what actually truly happens when someone is punched in the throat--they die. Wynn deserved everything that happened, but it was tragic, the way Mike just wanted to be held by him.
Boon is the creepiest fucker ever. He's such a sad little poser, always fingering the gun, his getting a hat, just everything about him is awful.
Aw, poor Raylan doesn't get to ride in the helicopter! Best thing about this season--Tim and Raylan are in almost every episode together.

Date: 2020-06-17 04:12 am (UTC)I do love Ava shooting Boyd. After all that's happened to her, it's nice to get back to her taking a situation back into her own hands. And a nice callback to the beginning of the series.
Mikey turning on Wynn was a real shocker. It's a really nice play to take the muscle and give him some agency.
Boon really is such a creep. Like, we've seen creepy guys and guys who didn't mind being evil, but Boon is really the only one who revels in his creepiness.
More Tim is always such a plus. He is a delight.
6.11 - This episode is kind of a mess.
I don't guess why Vasquez is so convinced now that Raylan is in cahoots with Ava. It just kind of a little too intense.
Boyd's escape from the hospital and subsequent offing of Carl is clever, funny and brutal. The epitome of Boyd Crowder.
Yeah, Mikey and Katherine's fight was just ugly. You gotta feel bad for Mikey being in so far over his head and still trying to keep to some kind of fucked up ethics.
That end scene with Raylan and Art is really something else. It's really the best part of the episode.

Date: 2020-06-17 06:11 am (UTC)Honestly I'm surprised it took this long for Mikey to turn on Wynn. I mean, he seems to be doing it for Wynn's betterment, but still.
Full props to Boon's actor for being just this side of scary unhinged crazy but teetering on the edge of cartoonishness. I mean he's like balancing right on the line there.
Well I suppose I can't blame Ava for trying to outsmart Raylan...Also her shooting Boyd makes me like her again. I mean, it's not like she doesn't have a history of shooting the men in her life.
Fugitive Number One
Date: 2020-06-17 06:11 am (UTC)I feel like finally Ava has a chance to breathe a little. I mean, perhaps not in the smartest way with the full force of the marshals after her, but the yoke of both Raylan and Boyd around her neck was getting to be too much for any of us.
"I've been to Mordor but not through the mines." HAHAH Okay like, who goes straight to a relatively obscure reference like that at the mention of a mine? Tim is the best. I am forever saddened that there's not more of him in this series.
So, like, what are you going to do with 10 million in stolen money? There is literally no where you can go with that much money and the marshals hunting you.
You know, I really do like Vasquez a lot, but I wish he were on Team Raylan just a little bit more. I mean, he should have a better read on Raylan by now. Raylan maybe be many things, and sleeping with Ava is definitely a possibility for him for sure, but how can any one believe he'd steal that much cash like a dumb dumb.
I LOVE Tim's expression when he's talking to Raylan and telling him he needs to go back to Lexington, and then is like 'can you cut me into the 10 million?" haha
I feel kind of bad for Carl (Karl?) and his brother. They should be able to pin that murder on Boyd, though, right? I mean! One would hope. Raylan working that dirty cop was great. That's Raylan at his best, imo.
Wynn Duffy has more than 9 lives, I swear. That was a disturbingly tender death scene for Mikey. Though I have to say I wanted Katherine to live. I was like, omg woman shoot him in the brain!
I also feed bad for Markham. I believe he really did love Katherine.
Boon reminded me of Dottie Underwood on Agent Carter. Down to the same fixation on the hat. Dottie had better hair though.
I would just say that a decomposing body would stink a lot more, like I'm not certain you could even be in the same room without choking.
There is no way Raylan could walk away from the hunt for Boyd or Ava.
