I was convinced I would hate Fleabag and avoided watching it for a long time, but the Hot Priest stuff intrigued me enough to give it a try, and reader, I loved it. There's a lot I don't connect with at all, but the aspects I do connect to are really strong and I actually found myself crying at multiple points, especially in season 2. I loved that this vid (from last year's Festivids, I haven't started watching this year's since go live was only just this morning) focuses on the Hot Priest storyline with such a witty backdrop as this song, but it also gets in a lot of what makes Fleabag's personal development resonate with so many people.

Oh, thank you for that rec! I felt much the same about the show—I resisted it for a long time but found myself loving it in such a surprising way.

It's really surprising, isn't it? I was constantly worried for the guinea pig (or hamster or whatever) and I know that affected me, but just the weird things like her friendship with the guy from that horrible retreat and the way her relationship with her sister changes just really pulled me in.

I haven't always liked her cruel sense of humor (there were some things in Killing Eve's first season that I really disliked) so I was braced for this but I figured I'd give it a few episodes to decide, and I'm really glad I stuck with it. There is so much that develops really slowly and unexpectedly, and the revelations about what makes her such a garbage fire of a person are incredibly moving. I don't get the sex obsession and dating and all that, but the family dynamics, the weird friendships she develops, those were story elements that really hit home for me.

Yeah, it was the sex obsession stuff that really made me dislike her and the show. I think I watched 1.5 episodes and just couldn't take it. Maybe I just need to start with S2 or at least the first priest ep :)
