It's strange, because I actually hate conspiracy theories and urban legends/cryptid stories, even when they're fairly harmless like in this fic. But I find myself constantly thinking about how Steve would have been perceived in the larger world, the different ways he would have been accepted or not, especially given his unique situation. I've explored it before in other stories, especially Tonight, I Dream in Technicolor, but it's just always been odd that they never wanted to show us the ways people, who are incredibly weird as a rule, would accept his story.
