Dear Festividder!

gwynI'm sorry I'm so late with this letter. But here's the thing about me: it's all good. No, really. I've only been doing Festivids for a couple years, and in both those years I got wonderful vids that made me really happy, because someone made them for me me me, and it was fabulous. The fact that we share some fandoms and love vids is the very bestest thing ever, right there.
I am mostly pretty easy, as well, in terms of music. There's very little I don't like -- there are specific artists I don't like, but the only music genre I don't enjoy is modern jazz. Other than that you're good to go. Country your thing? That's cool! Hair metal your bag? I can be convinced! (I can also be very O.o about show tunes used in vids, but sometimes those work, too.) Whatever you think works well for the subject, that's what you should make.
I don't have a ton of stuff to add to my details for my requests, but here's what I can tell you:
Big Trouble in Little China -- this is one of my all time favorite movies, and when I saw it on the list, I just had to request it, because I think it could be a ton of fun. While I love Jack Burton because I love Kurt Russell, Wang is the true hero of the movie and it's his journey, Jack's just along for the ride. I love their relationship, and the way Wang takes him through this completely wacked-out world. I also love Eg Shen, and all the weird Chinese mysticism that goes on, and how confused and freaked out Jack is by it all.
Case Histories -- Jackson Brodie and his totally fucked up life are my favorites. I adore how he is always helping people with broken wings despite his better judgment, how he fights so hard to help people even when it costs him so much. His backstory also haunts me. Anything Jackson centric is automatically wonderful. Also, Jason Isaacs's face is a thing of great beauty, so you could probably just vid close-ups of him set to schwoozy music and I'd be happy.
Charlie Jade -- Charlie is my favorite character here, but honestly, there's so little out there for this fandom that anything would be great here. I'll be honest: if you made a swoony vid about Charlie and Blues's relationship? I would make a little shrine with candles and incense and stuffed-animal sacrifices in your honor. But I'll take anything.
Eyes of Laura Mars -- When I caught this on late night TV a while ago after not having seen it for decades, I made a mental note to ask for this for Festivids because goddamn, it was MADE to be vidded. It's such a fabulous late '70s bit of OTT kitsch, and I would just adore getting a vid in this. I even had a song for it, but now I've gone and forgotten what it was. I am totally into the love relationship between Faye Dunaway and Tommy Lee Jones, and then of course what happens at the end...well, it's just so delicious and cheesy. Make me a cheesy vid that doesn't know it's cheesy. Revel in the cheese. BE the cheese.
Happy Endings -- I can't believe there are so few vids out there for this show. I LOVE this show. I especially love Brad and Jane (Jane is my soul mate) and Penny and Max. Alex is probably my least favorite, followed by Dave (who is redeemed by his love of V-necks), but even if they were who you wanted to vid, I'd be OK with that. And a teamy vid would be aces. I think this show needs upbeat music, though, or you could prove me totally wrong and find a song-story ballad that works.
MDs -- I really really doubt you're here for this, but on the off chance that you are: you will have my undying devotion and I love you for anything you make. Seriously, if it has Robert and Bruce and at least one glimpse of WIlliam Fichtner's spectacular arms, you have my undying devotion.
The Unit -- this one's a bit complex for me because I really only have eyes for Mack Gerhardt due to my obsession with Max Martini being at Defcon level 1 right now. But a teamy vid for all the operators in the unit would be wonderful if you don't think you can focus on Mack, or focus on Mack without a lot of his skank-ho train wreck of a wife. Mack's faaaaace and his forearms and his chest and the way he handles guns just all really make me happy. If he makes you happy enough to make a vid, you and I are BFFs.
