Summary:

Damien didn't call or ask, just showered off the last bits of Africa, threw the essentials into a duffel, and showed up on Michael's doorstep. He barged in as soon as the door opened. "Can't let you be alone in here, Mikey."

This was one of my favorites in the Yuletide collection this year. This is such a perfect representation of what these characters sound like, act like, think like that it's as if it was written by a series writer as a treatment for an episode. If ever Mikey and Damien were to get together, it would happen just this way. Damien's "fuck yeah!" when Mikey kisses him made me literally squeal out loud when I read this -- I don't know that any story has ever done that. And that devilc brought in bonus Bodie (and Doyle!) and Minder Nick Poole (from Queen and Country) is an incredible icing on the cake. If you've ever been the least bit curious about Strike Back (and not many people have seen it, more's the pity, I think because in the States it airs on Cinemax), this might whet your appetite enough to check it out -- if you like scorching hot slash sex scenes, this fic will make you happy.

Hi glorious Yuletide author! I am so excited you liked a fandom as much as I do that you want to write in it! Yay! I will be thrilled to read whatever you write. I have a few likes/dislikes that I can share with you, and I'll tell you a little bit more about each of the fandoms I chose, but honestly, you can't go wrong with the optional details. They might seem vague, but I don't like to give super specific prompts because I have a hard time writing that way. HOWEVER, if you really crave super specific prompts, have a mod ping me and I will try to deliver! I want you to be happy and have a good experience.

I can handle dark, light, and medium tones for stories -- I'm not averse to something really grim, although I have to admit that after a lot of years of losing people I love, I'm less and less thrilled with death stories than I used to be, but if that floats your boat, don't be afraid to do it if the story requires. I love real angst and stories where there are stakes and consequences. But I also love humor and witty banter and hearts aflutter.

Some dislikes are: I'm not religious, and I'd prefer that religion stay out of it if at all possible, unless it's integral to what the characters are doing or their identities (such as the Islamic characters in Strike Back). Pregnancy stories and things about babies or turning characters into kids is not something I especially enjoy. Two of the fandoms I requested this year involve men who have a kid, so that aspect I'm totally OK with, it's just more the baby-having or child-being thing I don't enjoy. I'm involved with animal rescue, so the one thing I really can't handle is any kind of animal suffering or cruelty to animals (and little kids).

I am sorry I'm so late with this letter, because I deeply appreciate that you are making me a vid! Last year was my first Festivids, and it was a wonderful experience -- so rest assured, I will be thrilled with whatever you make me.

I don't have a lot to add to the optional details in the original signup, but here's a little bit about me and my likes/dislikes and the fandoms in case it helps.

I think I will try to do both Festivids and Yuletide again this year. Dad's already dead, so at least that won't interfere with my ... uh, deadlines again. And after the books I have now, I'm not taking on anymore projects for winter. So there.

To wit, I've nominated 16 fandoms so far. Only a couple have other nominations, I was mildly heartened to see one other person has listed Case Histories, but I know better than to hope for something in that. Some of these are just "gee, that might be fun to vid" while others are more of the "OMG want" category. We can do 20 max, so I still have room for four more if I change my mind.

ETA: And Kiss Kiss Bang Bang! I knew there was another one I forgot.

Some might notice the preponderance of Jason Isaacs and William Fichtner. I'm just saying. (I wonder why Case Histories has the uppercase I in the middle -- I bet that's my fault from nominating it last year, because I'm the worst typist.) Strike Back seems problematical because the first season is a different cast and tone, and the second series was referred to as Strike Back: Project Dawn to distinguish it in some markets. I wonder if that will have an effect on what's requested/offered and could cause "not the fandom I'm talking about" issues.

OK, back to work now. Regency romance proofread is awaiting my eyeballs.
